My wife (who knows Edmonton far better than she would like) tells me the kid was being an ungovernable brat and his mother refused to take charge of him when he started getting violent and wouldn’t stop yanking on Santa’s (real) beard.
Which, when you come to think of it, is also a very Edmonton thing. There was not much magic or joy to go around on that scene.

Quite honestly...every Mall Santa should be accompanied by a Mall Krampus.
If the kid is being a brat, never fret, The Krampus will handle that.

Tomasek was pretty good in Europe but the Oilers were only giving him less than 11 minutes a game - I assume he wanted to actually play. Oilers have 5 player averaging less than 10 minutes a game including one (Ike Howard) who played 17 games.

It seems every off-season the Oilers bring over some older European(s) no doubt lured with assumptions of playing alongside McDufus and Pissaitl only for the brutal reality of that which is the Edmonton Boulevard of No Good. It never works out.
