Time for Hunter Brzustewicz to stay on the pro roster the rest of the year. If Parekh can gain some confidence, that can mean Brzustewicz, Kuznetsov, Parekh all graduating this season.

With Weegar and Bahl as mainstays - I can see one more veteran defenseman to round out the Top 6 (get rid of the Pachal, Hanley, Bean unless they are the 7th dman eating popcorn)..

Weegar
Parekh
Brzustewicz
Kuznetsov
Bahl
XXX
7th dman

Tough break for Bean, he was playing some of his better hockey for us this season. But this does open things up for one the prospects. Kuznetsov and Brzustewicz have looked like everyday players so far. I wonder who else might step up, given the opportunity.

The future looks bright on the blueline.

Likely the last we've seen of Bean.

That's too bad for Bean, I hope the recovery goes well, and that this isn't his last NHL job.

The guy had some potential when we got him, but he's just too inconsistent for my liking, despite some great analytics.

It looks like those guys might play around 60 games this season. Hopefully they can still get sent down to the Wranglers as I think a playoff run in the AHL will be good for their development. Also good to see Saginaw near the bottom so they should be eliminated well before the end of the NHL schedule so Parekh should also be able to get some AHL time.

Hopefully they dont call up Miromanov, that would be such a Flames thing to do

It's good for the young players but too bad for Jake...he is a better player than he gets credit for. Nearly 300 NHL games.

Guys is only 27 though he likely plays in the NHL again

Big question is whether Parekh can be a full time NHLer post world jr.

Based on what I have seen so far my guess would be no. But if he’s on a rotation to help him develop it would probably be the best option. That rule that doesn’t allow him to play in the AHL needs to be changed.

Getting to be a logjam in the D corp

Weegar
Andersson
Bahl
Kuznetsov
Pachal
Hanley
Brzustewicz
Parekh

It’s almost like someone needs to be traded.

Solovyov has been a healthy scratch for Colorado, and was sent down to the AHL on a conditioning stint. I don't think he's in their long term plans...

I think it is a no brainer that Parekh is back on the roster after the WJC. Why wouldn't he be? He was playing, he got injured, he's recovered ergo he'll be playing again. What am I missing?

A player needs to be on the AHL roster on trade deadline day in order to be eligible for the playoffs. That's not a problem with Brzustewicz, but a guy like Kuznetsov would need to go through waivers, so he definitely won't be sent down in a paper transaction.

As for Parekh I'm not sure, because he had the option to join the Wranglers last year, so I assume it could still be an option, even though he can't physically be on the Wranglers roster at the TD.

Parekh will be back on the roster, but he is still eligible for a conditioning stint in the AHL, before he gets back in the NHL lineup. That could be a good option for him for a couple of weeks.

How has Grushnikov looked? I know he's never put up points, but it's not bad to have a guy that where people down physically.

Yes, with an asterisk. The Flames can send him to the Wranglers for a conditioning stint, giving him an opportunity to build up some confidence playing at the top of the lineup against weaker opponents before returning to the grind of being a bottom-pair D in the NHL

Side note - Kuznetsov has been a revelation. Plays a solid, unspectacular game - great defensively, contributes offensively here and there, and shuts down plays like a veteran player. You hardly notice him, which is a good thing. And he's only getting better. His reach is insane too; dude looks like he's made of metre sticks.

Well worth the 5+ year wait!

Well, I would certainly describe playing either of them as the Flames' #3 D as leaning into the tank.

Zamula on waivers. Flames were rumored to be interested in him in the summer. A claim wouldn’t be that surprising
