Men competing with women in sports? That sounds so unfair and needs to be stopped, and I'm willing to fight for that stance even though I have no personal interest or stake in women's sports, have not investigated how the associations governing their sports have policies in place to keep competition fair, don't understand gender beyond a simple man:strong::woman:weak binary, and don't understand how inconsequential this whole situation really is.

15% of Albertans said "yes".


Does that mean 85% of Albertans are pedophiles? That's a lot higher than I would have expected - very disturbing.

Definitely not going to be emotionally traumatizing to young girls being accused of being a boy and having to prove to adults you are, in fact, just a child.

To me it's an issue of nuance. There has to be some kind of Ven diagram where no one should give a ####, and them a very, very small group where it deserves some discussion, but a binary answer will always miss the mark.

At what skill level does it matter:
a local track meet? who cares?, Zones? maybe, Provincials?, yes.



At what age does it matter:
Under 14?, who cares, between 14-30( if competitive)?, yes, after 30? who cares


Is it a contact sport:
No, who cares, Yes, maybe people should care.


Do they need to share a change room:
they don't, who cares. They do, a sperate change room might be required.

I'm not obsessing over anything. I'm firmly against fraidy cat bigots forcing their shame on children, who, by all respects, just want to be children. This has not ever been an issue in the history of humanity, but I guess Alberta 2025 is super special.

It's a fact that actions like these lead to suicide. It's not a hypothetical. So your support for this bigotry is going to cause children to kill themselves. All to protect the sanctity of 12 year olds playing soccer, who themselves have never asked for this. So that's the trade off. And you have decided kids killing themselves is a price society should pay because you are afraid of dicks. I find that monstrous, but if that's how you really feel, maybe put that on a bumper sticker.

I've tried to have this argument with people before, but the reality is they are inventing a non-existent issue, framing it in a disingenuous way. Not because they care about the integrity of sports, not because they care about pedophiles, if they cared about these things they would attack real problems, the erosion of public not for profit governing bodies for sports and the acceleration pay to play leagues taking the top 10% athletes and top 10% rich kids in one league leaving others behind while overworking kids to the point of breaking, or the catholic church an institution almost purpose built to spread pedophiles around the world. But they don't care about what they say they care about. What they care about is distracting you from the fact that their poor governance has led to Alberta losing ~$11,000 / year / house because of decision that no other government would have made, about how their excuse for making these bad choices was in the service of the economy but that economic indicators have been below benchmarks under their governance, about driving our economy away from diversification and towards risk is only being done in the service of bolstering the current upper class (who I guarantee is taking those profits, and diversifying their portfolios outside of Alberta).

Do I think there is a place for segregating athletes on Strength, Skill, Age... yes I do. Do I understand the role gender can play in those factors, yes I do. Am I worried about a boy in a wig lighting up a girls track meet? No I am not, I don't care about girls track meets. I have see the statistics and don't believe it is happening to an extent that would raise girls track meets to the level that I care, why are we talking about something that doesn't happen when this government is actively working to lower our standard of living every day, and working doubly hard to diminish the prospects around future standard of living.

Oh sorry, you are correct. I didn't realize cheek swabs are easy. It's actually seems simple to set this up.

Have a kiosk at the entrance to Jr High and High School gyms, labeled "GENETIC TESTING FOR TEH FEMALE VARIETY", where they go into a curtained area to get their cheeks swabs. By then, they should have some device that automatically generates the result based on the swab. They exit the curtained area and wait for the machine to spit out the piece of paper with either:

1. You are a female, please continue.
2. WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING, MALE DETECTED, MALE DETECTED. ARREST AND DETAIN.

Seems pretty straightforward!
