What?? Who is going to trade for him if they know he's about to hit waivers?

Good lord, they just traded a draft pick for him. Brutal asset management.

Means he won't count to the Canucks 23 man roster limit while the waiver process plays out.

I think I'm missing something. Is that important?

Is Reichel worth a waiver claim for the Flames? He has value, since he was just traded for a pick (4th).

they would be over the 23 man limit with Ohgren coming in (Rossi is still on IR). Need to clear a roster spot, so they waive Reichel and designate him "non-roster".

Doubt it
He needs to play offensive minutes but isn’t good enough to get those minutes

Right! The trade! Okay, now that makes sense.

Apparently they've been playing him at centre and he's a winger. Been poorly managed.

If he had value, he would have been traded, which the Canucks have been trying to do.

This was his last chance, now he is waiver fodder. He might get claimed.

Chicago was smart to dump him when they could.

The Canucks paid a 4th for him at the start of the season, so I could see a team or two putting in a claim.

As far as a fit for the Flames' 4th line, I don't see it. He doesn't really have any hits. He isn't big. He plays LW which we have a bunch of. Finally, he plays at about the same speed as Lomberg, which is good, but not at the level of Pospisil.

I'd rather see Stromgren called up.

Clears waivers, but apparently might still be traded.

What in the hell is wrong with the Canucks? Only a couple of months ago, they threw away a 4th round pick to get Reichel and now they put him out there on waivers. That organization hates draft picks. Maybe they'll pull a Jason Dickenson here and after acquiring him for a 3rd, they added a 2nd to him to get rid of him.

Maybe a trade to another AHL affiliate.

That's because, by golly, they're decisive and move fast, unlike the stupid Flames who take their own sweet time making sure what they want to do before actually doing it. This makes them better than us, according to the hardcore tank contingent.

The Canucks pivoted from trying to be a contender to a full rebuild in a matter of weeks, and all it took was for them to crash to 32nd place in the standings and their franchise player to demand a trade!
