At best 50-50 it works out
But, they had to do something.
I’d take Jarry and Ingram in the playoffs over Skinner and Pickard any day.
Oilers fans should be pretty happy. It’s a change that cost nothing. It may not get better but it’s not like it’ll get worse.
And they can always win another lottery
Cost nothing? Kulak and a high second round pick.

I thought I'd get an expert opinion on this trade from Edmonton's point of view. So I asked Krusty, who's a leading authority on clown shows. Here's what he had to say:

This trade essentially is the bet Bowman is making for the next two years. Hanging your hat on Jarry is a strategy. McDavid is a goner if it doesn't work out.
The Penguins now have a total of nine extra 2nd or 3rd picks for the next four seasons, one or two extra on those rounds each year to be exact. No extra 1sts and down one 4th round pick for the same timeframe.
It's funny because I kept saying why Pittsburgh would trade Jarry to Edmonton when they are in a playoff spot. Well, I had no thought that they'd get a potentially better goalie, a decent 3rd pair defenceman, and a second round pick. Good to know that Bowman learned nothing from his time in Chicago.

So a 2nd. Destined to be used for Kris Russell or some other depth D or forward at the deadline.
If it works it’s a steal. I’m not predicting that either way beyond saying it might work.
Skinner was always well spoken & classy in his interviews, even after the playoffs losses.
I said at the time he deserved a better team and glad I don't have to hate him anymore.
Not sure he'll be a good goalie anywhere however.
And who's going to do the California Closets ads now??
Spector and the propaganda machine already inferring Kulak is old and Skinner was a good guy, but should have stopped more pucks. The Oilers front office wasted no time getting their fanboys to hype this trade.
I expect the grease pigs to get a 'new goalie' bump for a couple of games, then reality will set in.
