Fine not paying that to a closer.

I'd much rather pay Bo and/or Tucker and end up with Fairbanks than to have a reliever's salary be the reason I don't get Bo and/or Tucker

For a 32 year old DH, pretty pricey but he hit 56 homers with 132 RBI and was second in NL MVP voting. He's pretty much a 40 and 100 guy every year.

Finding out Berrios was away from the team because he was a pouty baby and not because he had anything going on makes me hate the guy even more.

Yeah it's not a good look at all. Scherzer and Bassitt got left off the ALDS roster as well, and Bassitt was relegated to bullpen duty for the ALCS and WS and neither one of them had any issues with it.

Hopefully Berrios is motivated to work on his failing stuff and has a career year which leads to him opting out. His performance has been declining for years now and that's on him.

Yes, but would Bassitt or Scherzer have stayed with the team if they were left off the WS roster?

I don’t want to hate on the guy too much, cause if you are a competitor, it can’t be easy to watch and know that the team can succeed without you.

He’s has apparently been a really good guy in the community so it’s hard for me to get on him too much. If his teammates are ok with him being away during the WS, then it is fine, if not, then they will have to move him. I imagine his teammates understand him.

Well, we'll never know because those two were still serviceable MLB pitchers.

Berrios should have been thrilled his nearly spent husk was being carried to a possible WS ring, despite his unrelenting efforts to prevent that opportunity during the regular season. Instead he was a pouty baby. Send him to the ####ing Rockies and let him rot.

I think the last professional athlete that I detested this much almost purely for performance reasons was Rene Bourque. ####, he was the dumbest hockey player I have ever watched.

So yeah, sounds like Skubal to LA is agreed to, just working on an extension.

Skubal
Yamamoto
Snell
Ohtani

Ridiculous

I think Glasnow is going to Detroit as part of the return?

That makes no sense, imo. Why would the Tigers be willing to pay Glasnow $32 MM if they aren't willing to extend Skubal? I'd rather have Skubal for $37/year (sportrac estimate of his next contract) than Glasnow at $32/year. Maybe there's a + in the trade for the Tigers that swings it...

Fair enough - if it's not a money thing and he wants out/to go to a contender then it makes more sense. Have to take the best offer you can get. And you'll get more from a team where he's willing to extend.

Skubal is a Boras client and Boras clients almost always go to market, I can’t really remember the last time one of his clients signed an extension.

Where are we seeing this Skubal news? None of the major insiders I’ve seen have any sniff that there’s a deal close.

Yeah the Skubal news is just rumors, nothing has been done, there is no deal.

Its some dude named David Pingalore claiming this, apparently a sports guy in LA, not much of a following and none of the big reporters in the industry have even mentioned it so hopefully it's rubbish.

The Athletic saying the Dodgers are interested in a 3-4 year deal with Tucker at a “super high” AAV.

Considering that a sports guy in LA said that Ohtani was on a plane to Toronto which started that whole bruhaha I'm gonna take it with a lake sized grain of salt.
