It's just how the day to day is managed when none of us have any control over things.
I can't cheer for a loss, but I don't care what others do. Not a big fan of whining in a PGT after win as there is little point but to tick others off. The win has already happened, you're not going to change it or accomplish anything.
Life is too short to whine about wins, a lack of trade activity, the rebuild not fitting your view of a rebuild on a day to day basis.
Exhausting.

1. We're not a destination city yet.
- Bad arena (common knowledge, not my opinion - I will be sad to see the Dome go)
- Bad team
- No exciting players to attract other players
- Canadian city (good for some, bad for a lot)
- Cold city (good/indifferent for some, bad for a lot)
2. Young franchise players are rarely ever made available.
- Chucky, 2022 (age 24)
- Eichel, 2021 (age 24)
- Don't remember the last one before that...
3. Because of the first point, if the second point ever happens (either trade or FA), there is very little likelyhood of them coming here.
4. There are only three ways of aqcuiring a player:
sign as free agent (see the third point),
aqcuire via trade (see the third point) or...
5. ...draft them. We can argue all day about the importance of drafting as high as possible in the first round, but I think we can all agree there's a substantially higher chance of drafting a franchise player in the top-three. Especially if we're talking about a Crosby/Ovechkin/McDavid/MacKinnon/Makar or a Hughes/Hughes/Hughes/Eichel/Draisaitl/Etc/Etc/Etc. Also, the only position in the standings that guarantees a top-three pick is the last one (32nd overall). Finishing in 31st place (where we are now) actually makes it more likely we draft 4th overall, and it gets worse from there the higher we finish.
We're not making the playoffs this season (it was already posted that we need to play at a 100+ points pace in order to make it). So these are all literally (actually literally, not figuratively literally) meaningless games that serve no real purpose other than to increase or decrease the odds of this team being better next season.
To me, it's a no-brainer to accept some short-term pain this season in exchange for long-term gain with a franchise player on our roster (and a management team willing to keep and build around them). I actually think it's kinda selfish to want to watch them win games this season. It's like you're saying "I don't care if losing is the best way to get better, I don't like watching a team lose so I don't want to do it!" Contrast that to "I don't like losing any more than anyone else does, but I'm willing to suck it up this season for a top three pick in a very important draft."
Maybe we all want a franchise player... maybe the difference is some (most, I would think) of us are willing to sacrifice to make it a reality, and others are not willing to do that.
Anyway. I reallllllllllllllllllllly want this to be the last friggin essay I have to write on this topic. I know people are going to pick three words somewhere out of this wall of text and argue them completely out of context though, and I do try to igore that... I probably shouldn't even post this, to be honest, but I yam what I yam. So... enjoy!
(at least give me credit for trying not to ruin game threads for people during the games lately!)
