Both are small, too. Potter is probably mostly due to the slow start, and Wyttenbach has just never been in the conversation before. I am not shocked about this.

Will be interesting to see how Potter and Hagens' careers unfold

Numbers-wise there isn't a huge gap between them

Potter also left the USNDP early and there was some frustration there IIRC

Potter is better than Bednarik, Mooney, Kvasnicka, McMoorow and others. Wyttenbach might be - but he's also just very unproven and green at this point, so not surprised he wouldn't get a look.

Suspect the 2004-05 team that won was more because there was an NHL lock out so they basically had a super team as opposed to a bunch of Western guys.

Steven Ellis breaks down Team USA

https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/br...lines-schedule

Quote:
The hottest player in the NCAA as of late has been Calgary Flames prospect Ethan Wyttenbach. He has 14 points in his past eight college games, including a four-point effort just last Wednesday with Quinnipiac. His numbers are great – but was the hot run just a little too late? He has never been part of USA Hockey’s junior programs, so it’s not entirely surprising that he didn’t make this group.

Cullen Potter, another Flames prospect, had a strong U-18 World Championship and was great as a college freshman. His inconsistent college season, though, might have played against him. I expect Potter to make USA next year – potentially in a top-six role – but it always felt unlikely they’d bring him in a checking role.

Hagens' number look better, especially last year. Is the NCHC that much better than Hockey East that it bridges that gap?

Will Moore missing too. That's a shocker since he's USNDP stock.

Hagens, Ziemer, Eiserman, Connelly, Stiga, Plante are all forwards that played on last years team, so no surprise to see any of them on the list. Hutson, Kleber and Hensler were also on last years team.

A vast majority of the forwards on the list came up through the USNTDP, and the few that didn't like AJ Spellacy, bring size, which the US is lacking up front.

Did Dave Cameron and crew suddenly get picked up by the USA?

Wyttenbach gets a burr in his saddle from the snub, and goes on to score 3 points per game instead of 2?

If that's the extent of the evaluation then it's poor evaluation.

Have they seen how high those two rank for % of team offense they contribute to? Potter's "slow" start was more a biproduct of ASU's slow start.

Both guys are beasts within the rosters they have to work with.

Would be neat to see how they fare on a team chock full of talent. Too bad.
