What exactly has the #1 proven? In 20 starts without sheltering he has been over .920 one more time,7. And over .900 9 times

So Wolf has been over .900 … 45% of the time
And Cooley being over .920 … 100% of the time has proven … he’s a good backup.

Ok

Still butt hurt about Bennett scorning the Flames and proving lots of people right.

Dismissive of people observing the simple fact that the backup goalie has performed way better than the anointed starter, supported by stats

You are a curious fellow

6 points collectively between Kadri, Andersson, and Coleman. I'm a big proponent that we need to draft near the top this year but a win where those three rack up the points will help the rebuild as well in its own way.

Bennett has proven to be a key performer and a big part of Florida's success, I dont get why people are still so infatuated with his contract.

I'll disagree that Cooley has 'Performed Better' than Wolf. Not because of status of Backup vs. Starter but more because Wolf got some rough starts against some tough opponents in hard games where, quite frankly, the team in front of him played like a bag of ass.

But I have no problems with Cooley playing well. The fact of the matter remains that we have 2 kids in net playing behind a more or less cobbled-together defence corps. Its always going to be a bit of a fire drill back there until things stabilize.

Its hard to generate concrete opinions based on what we have. Hell, even today...Huberdeau may as well have slammed that first goal past Cooley himself and skipped the middle man. That kind of thing is going to happen.

Nobody is 'proven.' This team is playing by the seat of it's pants on a game-by-game basis and often those pants are on fire.

This season, by all indications, is going to be a roller-coaster. As fans? Best we buckle up.

Buy the ticket? Then take the ride.

I mean Bennett has a terrible contract...its hardly a Flame homer thing he is on every bad contract list. His last one was great...this one will be a disaster.

The goalie thing is the furthest thing from a worry I can imagine...Cooley playing well is not a bad thing. Duh

Ok
What should 6 games in a season and 15 NHL appearances in a career prove beyond that?

Still? The contract is 24 games in lol...like I said the last one was good, they should have let someone else give him the retirement special

Lol if someone was the playoff MVP that got us a Stanley Cup, you bet I would be fine overpaying that player for the next several years as a thank you.

No need to crap on Bennett. They didn't sign him for the regular season, anyways.

Who said otherwise...they dont take the cups back if you dont give him that deal though. Its not going to age well

I mean, you would much rather over pay a player as a thank you. It is kind of like when Toews signed with the Blackhawks, it aged poorly really fast. But whatever, he helped win them 3 cups.

I would much rather be in that situation than overpaying Huberdeau like we did.

Florida is looking forward. The Cap is going up...dramatically, and a lot of their success has been built on team cohesion. In their shoes I dont think I'd have a problem with it.

He has the same points stats as Huberdeau at the moment despite being $2.5M cheaper and 3 years younger with a cap going nowhere but up.

Yeah Toews and Kane got 7 x 10.5 in 2014 when the cap was 69 million

Hilarious Dino finds 7x7 against a 95 million and rising cap for the Conn Smythe winner a problem

It’s actually about the same contract as Wolf and what exactly did he prove in the NHL to this point?

Well Huberdeau has played 3 less games and is considered the worst contract in the league...so if that is your gotcha lol. Like I said Bennett had a horrible contract, thanks for agreeing.

If we drafted McKenna this year and he won us a cup, I would be happy to give him 20 million a year and keys to the city to keep him.

Once you win a cup, everything else is gravy. And Bennett was a key contributor to 2 cups!

It seems you are biased against any player that leaves the Flames. But to me, I have more emotional attachment to Bennett than I do most of our current players. He's a player we drafted and I wanted to see succeed.

He went on to win MVP of the playoffs. He is an awesome hockey player.

I will defend Bennett to the death!

Easy to say now...I would give Lucic 17M to win a cup. After you have the cup you dont need to make poor choices though. Wont age well IMO.
