I honestly don’t know any flames fans outside of the 5-6 defenders on this site that aren’t. All my buddies either stopped watching altogether or want a rebuild. People in the office, customers I talk to basically everyone I BS hockey with feels this way.

Can’t think of many fans who want to purposely lose but there does seem to be a lot on CP. Myself I see a tank job as being anti-rebuild because it is really an admission you have no plan. That is probably why no team has ever really tanked the way that most of team tank would like the Flames to tank like in the salary cap era. The Flames have been in a rebuild for 3 years so it would be confusing to want something that is already happening.

people who live in reality know the Flames have already been rebuilding...they just played too well last year, mostly the rookie goalie, how terrible!

The Flames fell flat on their face and ended their season in less than a quarter of the way in. They have won 4 of 5 and just climbed past last place.

Once the season was cooked it will be very frustrating if this tr claws their way to the 6th-10th pick.

I want them to do poorly this season because they have been bad this year. I don’t want 5 years of this but like many have been saying I want them to lean into this year. If they keep losing chances they do that increase significantly

So the 15,000 or so who have already paid for their tickets just throw them in the trash?

It is really easy to get tickets for a good price.

Poll the fans at the dome and ask them if they would rather pick top 5 or watch a bunch of wins this year and draft 13th

There are season ticket holders that want a change.

Plus there will always be the corporate crowd

We have gone over it a million times but if they were actually as bad as they were playing at the start the vets would have been next to worthless and everyone here long term would also suck. (Wolf, Coronato, Klapka, Zary, Bahl, Kuzy, Cooley) the whole lot.

What does that have to do with anything? Team isn't going to throw games...they have been rebuilding for two years, sorry the rookie goalie was too good...how terrible

I am guessing that Maloney and Nonis both might have a lot of value to the organization due to their relatively long tenures in the NHL, and especially among the NHL executive vets still in the game (which there are many). Maybe it's a bit of what Burke had stressed about before and giving the Flames that presence/respectability, etc. after the organization's reputation was run into the gutter by Feaster. I dunno, just a guess. Maloney clearly isn't good at messaging to the public, so it'll be interesting to see if they continue to push him out there to provide updates or if they saw the fire it created and will muzzle him a bit going forward.




Who does the PR now? Wasn't it that one fella, who was promoted to AGM or something like that last year/year before? Who did they backfill him with? Maybe his absence is what's happening here?

Interestingly, Francis said to Steinberg that he specifically requested Maloney because he isn't the person the Flames put forward. I suspect that the Flames may refuse the request in the future.

Reading the tea-leaves with Francis and Steinberg's chat yesterday, I think that you are correct and Conroy was done early in the season but they weren't sure about the optics of extending the GM while the team was dead last in the league and looking terrible. I suspect they regret that decision now.

I think it was people who think the Flames are not rebuilding and think they are actively trying to win right now.
