California Psychics advertise on Sirius radio a lot. They claim “our psychic advisors are rigorously screened and tested repeatedly for their intuitive abilities, with only the top 2% of psychic applicants making the cut.”
LOL - how do they screen the “good” ones from the “bad” ones?
A psychic called me once to sue a newspaper for refusing to run her ads. I said ok, let’s establish you are psychic. Tell me what I’m thinking. She hung up the phone.
My buddy Tim did that out of curiosity. He had to do a mock call with someone from the company, they want you to “prove” your ability, ability to act convincing lol. He passed, worked for like 2 weeks and did an art project about it. He almost considered staying because that’s back when the pay was really good. But his conscience got to him.
California is considered to have the hardest bar exam in the US... on this one, Kim gets a pass IMO.
Yes and no.
She has access to the best tutors and doesn't have to worry about a 9-5, which means that if she's not passing she likely isn't working hard enough, despite many advantages. Her dad was a top level lawyer, and her mother despite having questionable priorities has top notch business acumen. She likely not failing because she wasn't gifted with the smarts to do so.
Her attitude that she's basically entitled to licensing, that's extremely hard to get and typically takes people many years of study to get, isn't in any way redeeming.
I recall the video from a few years ago where her or one of the other ones does some house tour and proudly shows her water fridge. She makes a point to say they only have water in glass bottles because they care about the environment.
To be fair, if we had a substantive bar exam in this province, many lawyers wouldn't pass it...
I, for one, support this idea. Make it impossible. Then we can corner the industry and have it all to ourselves until AI makes us all redundant.
I have often wondered how hard their bar exams actually are. I imagine a lot of the failures are from people who went to 'bottom-tier' law schools, didn't prep, etc.
I am no rocket surgeon, but I found the bar exams pretty easy overall. Having said that, they are just establishing the lowest common denominator, which enables them to say, 'oh, so smart,' so the government can look like it is regulating the industry.
I know the SEC courses for the financial industry were harder, in a different way, because they relied on more 'tricks' than the Canadian ones, but the Canadian ones are no joke. Having said that, 60% to pass seems awfully low to be handling people's retirements.

There's been a massive influx of foreign law students and there's now more law schools in BC. The quality of the people taking the test is likely going down leading to more fails.
The California bar exam has a fail rate of 45%, but in California you do not need to go to law school to take the bar exam, and the USA has a much wider range, in terms of quality, of their law schools. There are about 40 law schools in California, and some are known to be awful.
Anyways, I doubt the California bar is that much harder than the BC bar, but they likely have far more lower end applicants.

The California and BC Bar Exams are softer and limper, more like pool noodles than 'Bars' per se.

I believe they just announced that BC would be switching from this model to the CPLED course, so no more exam.
I have some concerns about so much of it being online. A lot of kids are using various aids to do online work for them. There's also issues about who's actually doing the work.
