Typical ‘new era’ American Survivor season. Boring with too many weird people.

I didn’t mind Jason as a pick. He just got really unlucky at the tribe swap. And in American survivor it’s just dumb luck most of the time.

The Sage/Shannon interactions have been great.

I loved that Sage refused to hug her twice that episode. The ending was very satisfying.

After eight previous seasons of the “new era,” Survivor 49 players and fans thought they knew what to expect. With 12 players left, they would officially reach the merge, and the individual game would truly kick off. But Jeff Probst and company had something different in mind. Instead, a second tribe swap occurred, putting them back into three tribes. And with only four people in each group, it provided an opportunity for new bonds and old grudges to lead to the first big move of the season.
Shannon Fairweather would be the first to tell anybody that everything happens for a reason. While her Survivor ties ran deep with Boston Rob Mariano as a family friend, the wellness specialist led with a “vibes-forward” mentality. But underneath her calm, meditative persona, there was someone who, despite not going to Tribal Council for the first 12 days, was always eager to make a move.
And the person who created an “AI Jesus” to help her in the game was losing disciples by the day, especially after she threw Sage Ahrens-Nichols under the bus. The second swap put three former Ulis back together, giving them the numbers on paper. But Shannon was eager to dispose of Jawan Pitts in favor of Steven Ramm to bank on her cross-tribal plan. That made the former red tribe members see red. And so while Shannon was ready to “nama-stay” for the next two weeks, they told her, “Gotta go,” turning on their former tribe member.

Before arriving on the island, Nate Moore had already had experience netting a million — and then some. The film producer had spent over a decade helping create some of the most acclaimed suphero movies of all time. But despite his film knowledge, he dealt with a very different type of “cinema” when he immediately hit a generation gap on the beach.
Coming into the merge, Nate felt he had assembled the perfect team that would help carry him to the end of the proverbial comic book. But he had no idea his arch nemeses would come from within. Sage Ahrens-Nichols and Jawan Pitts knew they were on the outs of Uli, and were looking to kick off the merge with a big move. And so, after getting rid of Shannon Fairweather last time, they continued their Uli onslaught, flipping to take out Nate.

Barnes takes his first hit and surferguy is voted off the CP Island.

Just caught up (wife was out of town).

I picked the hippy randomly, and after the first episode I knew I was ####ed with her. I was actually cheering for her to be voted out.

See you in season 50!

Best episode of the season so far.

Unreal how quickly that 3 of Rizzo Soph and Savannah went from the bottom to the top and now they all have advantages and idols.

Anyone still in this game can win it.

I have Rizzo but that's 2 tribals in a row he should be at least getting some votes. I was yelling at my TV for him to play his idol, but thankfully he didn't need to. Like jg said, it's anyone's game to win.

Michelle “MC” Chukwujekwu was an X factor from even before the game began. That’s because she was one of two alternates, put in the cast only 12 hours before the season started. Despite the circumstances, the track star hit the ground running, finding a Beware Advantage and locking in with a number one in Steven Ramm. Her game began to lock up, however, around a ring of keys. At the merge, MC successfully got her idol, but it came at the cost of doing it in the awkward presence of Savannah Louie.
Wanting to rebuild trust, she told Jawan about the move Sophie Segretti was planning to throw a vote onto him in case Rizo Velovic played his idol. But that all blew up in MC’s face, as Sophie launched into a campaign against her fellow Hina. The former Ulis held the power. And ultimately, after a lot of Tribal Council whispering, they felt MC had a bigger web of connections, choosing to stomp out the spider of Survivor 49.
Additionally, Savannah received an advantage as a reward for being the last one standing in the challenge. She would be sent over to the other camp immediately, and given a vote to cast at that Tribal Council. However, she could choose to bank the vote instead to use in the future. Protected by immunity, Savannah chose to do so, meaning she left the episode with an extra vote she can use at some point in the coming weeks.

I'm not sure I would go as far as rigged but it sure seems like production wanted to save Savannah with that 5 vs. 5 challenge. Her or possibly Rizo were as good as gone otherwise.

Oh, I thought it was a challenge basically taken from survivor Australia. Seen as many times up on that side. Probably the best challenge and twist format I’ve seen on regular Survivor for a very long time

It is only fitting that Congressional communications director Alex Moore got voted out for playing too politically. The D.C. resident started off his term on the wrong foot, part of this season’s “disaster tribe,” and single-handedly blew a lead on Day 1 to Rizo Velovic. Alex’s journey went from bad to worse over the first week in the game, as he continued to go to Tribal Council, lost his number one, Jake Latimer, to a freak snake bite, and was pushed to waste his idol.

SportsJunky and ChuckieNZ are both voted off the CP Island.
