Feels like a Covid game in an empty stadium.
It would surprise me to see many future friendlies such as this televised live.

Sloppy game but Canada up 1-0 at half. David and Oluwaseyi look miles off it tonight. Would like to see Promise David get in at half to give him an extended run out.

Jones looks solid at CB.

Not really much to note otherwise.

This game is unwatchable. Canada are poor and Venezuela won’t stay on their feet.

Venezuela down to 10 men after Martinez backhands Laryea.

Canada then down to 10 men on a "high boot" from Kone that didn't even touch the opponent. Pure even up call.

10 v 10 now. Again useless for tactics.
No VAR so the ref is running blind.
Poor from Canada. Venezuela a shell of the team they were at CA.

Hadn’t paid attention to David because he had such a good start at Juventus, but him scoreless in 17 games and apparently not getting minutes in a very fussy Serie A is likely confidence zapping, concerning overall going into 6 months away from the WC .

It also should be another red flag, as Kone and others have discovered, to not get caught up in the Italian hype because those clubs and their supporters set unrealistic expectations and then will turn on you quicker than most leagues.

The other David scores though, though it was offside and no Var to pull it back.

Promise David scores again. Marsch doesn't seem to rate him but he just seems to find the back of the net at a far better clip then Oluwaseyi or Larin right now.

Shout out to former Cavalry man Waterman. He's had a great game tonight in relief of Cornelius.

I wonder if Marsch likes to have a game changer off the bench. Let J David and Tani run at the defence for 60-70 minutes and press and then if you're needing a goal bring the 6'5" guy off the bench to wreck havoc. I certainly don't mind that strategy.

Waterman seems like a big winner of the window as far as guys fighting for places go. Great to see. Jones looks to be a nice add too at a position of depth

Not sure how much we can learn from this window when they barely played more than a half of football at 11 v 11. But they battled hard and are playing for each other

I really hope in the March window Marsch settles on a keeper and gives him both games. I think it will be (and should be) DSC. If you're worried about penalties at the World Cup you can always sub in a backup althrough St Clair has now won two shootouts this MLS postseason (to be fair not that's he won them through saves, but he did score the winning penalty against Seattle)

Kind of cool that Alfie's tie to Canada is via Hillcrest, Alberta. I'd be curious to know if the mine disaster resulted in his family leaving.

Waterman looks better than ever. He was really good on the ball.

If JD is going to slump, now's the time. 6 months is a long long time to shake it off. My worry right now is Davies rejoins the team and thinks he needs to do it all himself because we can't score anymore.
