He was making the minimum NHL salary but seems they were carrying 8 defensemen. Stecher wasn't playing much at all and some guy called Regula hasn't been playing much either.
Doesn't say much for Stecher if you can't crack the top 7 on that team while making NHL minimum.
Leafs D must be beyond horrible.

Stecher is the perfect spare tire on D. He seems to have always been one of those guys who can munch popcorn for a month, then jump into the lineup and still be serviceable.
I'd rather see him in Toronto than Edmonton.

I doubt Stecher sees more than 3rd pairing duties.
Toronto's main issues are age related and there's nothing they can do about that unless they blow it up.

Embarrassing to be claiming anyone off waivers from the Oilers. Let's keep in mind that team just decided Stetcher wasn't good enough to crack their top six and it may be one of the worst top d cores in the whole league.

This is also the team that let Broberg and Holloway walk for a 2nd and a 3rd. They have no idea how to assess talent even in their own system, especially defensive talent.
Being waived by the Oilers is practically a badge of honour.
