Even if the Oilers wanted to get another goaltender, league GMs can sense desperation and will want to extract a premium. Compounding the dilemma is their own salary cap limitations.
I mean: theoretically ~14 minutes of time with no goals. Deduct that from the overall game time and they still pumped nine past SkinPick. If you deduct the cOil’s PP time too, then the Avs scored nine goals in a little more than half a game.
Avs scored a shortie too….Which basically negates the cOil’s PP goal…
They played 40 minutes and 3 seconds of 5 on 5. The score in that time was 8-0, which is crazy.
It's also pretty crazy that you can score 9 on the night, but not get any in almost 12 minutes of PP time.

Waht goalies who are better than Skinner would be available? No one is trading their starter unless St. Louis has a meltdown (plus Binnington has a NTC). has a backup better than him who wants to give up that backup. Seattle would trade Grubauer but he's not really an upgrade.

Compounding the dilemma is the anemic defense and putrid forward roster that would ruin even the best goalies.
xGF last night for Colorado was 8.28. Hard to pin that on the goalie.
I didnt see the game but I imagine it looked a lot like this.
Edmonton is the only team in the league without a fight, you would think a 9-1 thumping would stir some emotion within them. Oh well I suppose they always have their scheduled coaching bump to look forward to.

Knoblauch is fully in the danger zone now. Since MacTavish ushered in the decade of darkness, here's each coach and the number of games until they got fired.

And zero chance they get Binnington for a 2027 1st when they have to take Skinner back and retain 50% to make the money work. The Oilers are stuck with what they got. Their best chance is to give Ingram a chance.
