Tonight was the first game this year where the Oilers played a team that finished in the top 12 of the league standings last year. What a layup of a start schedule wise and they sure aren't blowing the doors off anyone.

Biggest bunch of losery sucks that ever did suck.
And they're still running the Wonder-Twins 25 minutes a night.
Bouchard I think plays more but I think thats because he doesnt see the clock properly.

Louie was using their tough schedule as an excuse after the game!

After gaining one point tonight, the Oilers briefly moved into second place in the Pacific. After Anaheim, Vegas, and LA all won tonight, the Oilers are now sitting outside a playoff spot.

The contract runs until he's 35.. So likely the last 3-4 years will somehow be even worse.

The Specstauffaples crew keep bringing up the high ankle sprain as a reason for the lack of production. The over/under on when they stop using that excuse? 2027?

They have a big road trip coming up. 7 games in 11 days. It's early Nov and the big guns already look gassed.

What's the deal with their 1st rounder this year? Like where do they need to finish to maximize the pain where the pick isn't protected anymore?

When the weakest team in your 7 game eastern road trip is Washington, you have to be worried.
Even Buffalo is on a heater.

Well it is the oldest team in the league, and carrying a bunch of deadweight on your back is taxing.
There are lots of different warning signs for the Oilers at almost 20% of the season gone. They're schedule hasn't been super difficult, and they are on track for 87 points, they're off the playoff pace by probably 7 points.
Neither Pickard or Skinner have been exactly starting goalie qualities.
Bouchard is a disaster, he is literally hurting the Oilers at even strength.
McDavid when I've watched hasn't looked all that good, its a testament to his talent that he's racking up points though not goals
They're an old team, the second half of the year could be worrisome.

I believe if they trade there 2027 first, then the 2026 becomes unprotected,

The scuttlebutt in Nogoodville has the Oilers looking to move a defenseman, specifically the oft-scratched Troy Stecher and his outrageous $775,000 salary to clear some cap space.

Then hope they trade their 2027 First on a goalie that doesn't pan out.

Makes sense.
It appears that the 2026 draft pick they traded to San Jose for Walman is top 12 protected and right now, they are slotted to draft 10th, barring a lottery fluke. I'd love to see them at #13 at the end of the year. Miss the playoffs and have to give up the best possible pick.
Although it would really funny if they did trade their 2027 pick and had to give up a lottery pick instead. Can the be dumb enough to try though? Nevermind, of course they can.
