Okay, his arm is going up there, but he isn't at the ball yet. He has to get to the ball then turn and throw to the cutoff man from the wall. Straw scores.easily, and is in the dugout having a smoke before the ball gets to home plate

Makes sense given how weird it would be for him to come out of the pen without proper warm up although i know he did it for Japan once.

The lodged ball was weird but not a factor

Likely outcome if you get a normal bounce is a double with runners on 2 and 3 with zero out. Same as what happened

It’s what happened subsequently that mattered … and now doesn’t

On to game 7!

??

If the ball caroms back and doesn’t get stuck, the OF likely has it in his glove by the time this pic is taken and then a throw to Betts. Betts gets it by the time Straw is just about third and Straw would be out by a decent margin assuming accurate throws.

But moot because Febles would not be sending Straw in that scenario with 0 outs and the ball in the process of headed back to the field with Straw not even near 3rd yet.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, him coming in as a reliever would mean if/when he was done pitching as a reliever, he would have to go play a field position to be able to continue to bat.

So, he will start. Probably only a couple innings. Then Glasnow. Then who knows.

That makes by far the most sense given how the rules for DH work. He won't have tons of innings in him on short rest, and if you brought him in as a reliever you lose the DH and that really hurts you if the has a short outing or the game ends up in extras.

I'd expect him to be more of an opener tomorrow (or maybe like 3-4 innings max) and then Glasnow and then Snell if necessary (also likely only an inning or maybe two). It's really too bad they couldn't extend the 9th tonight. Even getting Glasnow to throw 15 pitches in a win likely reduces his effectiveness and duration tomorrow, which matters a lot.

Yep agreed. 4 max for Ohtani tomorrow more than likely. Glasnow after a 3 pitch outting tonight is probably who we see afterwards. Still love the BJs chances

In a 9 inning game, only if Max gets shelled and is out early but the Jays claw back to have it close at the end, after having used a bunch of pitchers in the meantime.

In extra innings, sure.

The second that ball lodged I was relieved because I knew it meant runners on 2nd and 3rd with 0 out and ZERO chance of a play or base running error for an out. Why relief there..because what happened 3 pitches later weird things can happen when the play is live.

You are correct. Straw scores easily. Throw doesn't go home. The Dodgers concern is Barger, the tieing run.

We’ll never know but I wonder if Barger never got doubled off would George have gotten the Ab or the free pass to get to Lukes.

I don't think the thing to fear tonight is the Blue Jays lay an egg, they've really only had one very poor game this whole postseason in Game 2 against Seattle. I think the fear is the Dodgers have made it to Game 7 while playing pretty poorly overall outside Yamamoto and Ohtani's God mode game. Saw a stat that they are batting .191 in the series, yet here they are in Game 7 anyway. If they show up tonight and suddenly everyone remembers how to hit it could be tough to beat them. But if they keep going the way they have this series it's hard to imagine the Blue Jays won't grind out enough runs to win.

Or the Jays bats come alive again and they win like 11-2 in a romp.

Really bad luck. It sure felt like they were en route to at least tying that game.

I was disappointed with Ernie’s AB. I know he’s an ambush guy but a really bad pitch to swing at that killed the momentum of the inning.

Like almost every game this series, the pitching matchup favours the Dodgers in game 7. But the Dodgers, back against the wall, could only muster up 4 hits? Scherzer and co can neutralize this lineup as they remain ice cold. And with Ohtani pitching, history suggests his bat probably suffers, which is a big hit to their lineup.

Yeah I agree. I think the Jays bats will be fine and get to the Dodgers pitching but you’ve given the stars on the Dodgers a seemingly extra chance to figure it out and put it all together collectively offensively. Sure each have had their moments already, Schenider pitching to Ohtani needlessly in Game 3. Freeman with the HR in that game to end it. Betts yesterday but all things considered, they’ve been kept pretty quiet with only 5 runs in the last 3 games and only one run in Game 1 as well.

In the last 4 games, Jays have outscored the Dodgers by net 6 runs and outhit them by net 13 hits but they are still only 2-2.

Has Ohtani ever pitched in just 3 days rest before?

He did it once, curiously, it was in April for whatever reason.
