Traditional ones, yes. I'm not sure they exist anymore. Dead, or morphed into Trump foot stools.

The SC is ruling themselves into oblivion because soon they will be pointless.

Thanks for the respectful post. It says a lot about a person when they can have a good conversation.

Not that. He wants to be like Newsom and I love it.

The craziest part is that he doesn't have the authority to do these things; Congress does.
But Congress has ceded all their power to the executive.
Bannon is serious when he says Trump is going to be president a third term. They have no regard for their own rules anymore.

Trump Says a Recent M.R.I. Scan Was ‘Perfect,’ and He’d ‘Love’ a Third Term
President Trump made the comments on the second day of his trip to Asia. The Constitution limits presidents to two terms, but Mr. Trump has suggested he might try to circumvent it.

“At the appropriate time, we’ll lay out what the plan is,” said Mr. Bannon, without elaborating. “But there is a plan.” He added that Mr. Trump was an “instrument of divine will,” echoing, as Mr. Trump himself has, the language of the divine right of kings.

Considering his current health, I doubt he’ll even last this term. But yea, in either case, Republicans aren’t ceding control and will surely find a way to circumvent the Constitution. America is toast.

He can openly campaign on this without violating any rules, I think?

Sounds like the Trump administration has been annoyed with Ford for a while now, and might possibly be the reason that trade talks were called off, which if true is incredibly ridiculous. The anti-tariff ad was just the last straw I guess?
Also Trump on Air Force One this morning saying that he has no interest in speaking to Carney at the moment, and that they're happy with the "deal they have now" with Canada and will probably just let that run, whatever that means. I assume he's talking about CUSMA, which is currently set to expire in 2036.

Canadian officials may have said they were caught off guard last week when U.S. President Donald Trump announced he was cutting off trade negotiations with Canada over Ontario's anti-tariff advertisement, but sources say Premier Doug Ford’s bad cop act— and tough words for Trump — has been an irritant.
Two sources with knowledge of the talks said the Americans had warned Canadians “for months” that the Ontario premier's comments were troubling to the Trump administration.
CBC News is not naming the sources because they are not authorized to speak publicly about the trade negotiations.
|

One source said Ontario’s move to pull American booze from the LCBO is also an irritant; the province’s liquor board is one of the biggest wholesalers of alcohol in the world. Ontario and other provinces pulled American liquor from their shelves in March, in response to Trump’s first round of tariffs.
The $75-million anti-tariff TV ad was the last straw in a series of complaints, sources say.
|
Quote:
On Monday, Carney said he felt the two countries were close to an agreement, until those ads ran.
“There were a series of very detailed, very specific, very comprehensive discussions … up until the point of those ads running,” he said, speaking from Kuala Lumpur, where he was attending the ASEAN summit.
Carney confirmed he hasn’t spoken to Trump since talks were put on ice, but repeated that Canada is ready to go back to the negotiating table when the U.S. is willing.

The reality is Trump doesn't want 'trade talks' he demands 'trade lie down and take it' and Canada/Carney to it's credit has refused to just sign what ever Trump presents us, mostly because we have always know the US is a really crappy trade partner and was long before Dorrito Trumpallini took power, we can't afford to tie ourselves to a rubbish trade deal that will last long after Trump has stroked out
Trump is just trying to frighten Canada into doing what he wants, we have the dubious advantage that the shear quantity of trade between the two countries means it hurts the US as well when he tries to hurt Canada, effectively this is a labour dispute and Canada is on strike
