I wish they had a live web cam like the BMO expansion had. It should start to rise quick.
On a side note, it would also be great if the Stampede was able to start building some entertainment things along Stampede Trail that could open in conjunction with the new arena. A movie theatre would be a great anchor for that strip.

I'm admittedly more bullish on the potential for the area that some others, but I kinda like that within reasonable walking distance there will be the revamped Glenbow, the revamped Arts Commons, the National Music Centre, the central library, the BMO, the casino, Scotia Place and the new hotels. I think they need a live music venue that is a bit larger than the King Eddy in the general area as another draw.
The problem with the Stampede Grounds is that Macleod Trail and the railway tracks cut it off from the rest of downtown. Even if the destinations there and in the East Village are appealing, getting there is gross and pedestrian-unfriendly.

I could swear they just finished building an at-grade vehicle and pedestrian crossing from 17th Ave SW to the Stampede Grounds:
Spoiler!

Walk to 7th ave
get on train
proceed like 2-3 stops (5 minutes max)
Get off and continue walking
I don't feel like it's pedestrian-unfriendly.
also, crossing McLeod isn't some impenetrable barrier. There are crosswalks.
The train line will always be a blemish but we just got to live with that one.
A bit of a tangent, but I have always thought Vic Park station should be included in the free fare zone.
