I mean I'm ok with Huska since he overperformed last year, but it's getting real hard not to go all Dissentowner on his ass if he doesn't change up the PP unit!
Unleash the Parekh on PP1! and stop pairing him with AHLers every night.

If the Flames win? I'll be mildly happy for the Kadri and the krew...but less so, because the young footprint on the roster is less than what I'd like to see it be at this stage of the team's development. I just don't see a lot on the roster that is part of the next, actually meaningful core.
Either way, it's a great day for Flames hockey!
Friedman cautions "the Flames do not like to throw in the towel"...yikes. This team needs to emphatically state where they are. The bottom. Friedman continues that the best thing they can do? Friedman says it will take someone in the organization to step up and say "people aren't going to like this, but this is what we need to do" and that if this current group can't dig themselves out them, they have to tackle each other to prevent from them calling central registry.
"If I look at the Flames, you know what they need? If they can get McKenna, or a high skilled player at the top of the draft...that's what they need" and continues to say that's who sells tickets in new arenas.
Friedman seems to really hammer that the Flames do not want to be that bad...They talk about DuPont, and Friedman says there's too much scar tissue that they won't want to be uncompetitive.
My goodness, if that's what Friedman has heard...that's damning.

It lines up with how they operate but at the same time brings into question their coaching hires over the years (IMO). Want to win, bring in Gulutzan etc. Also funny that he brings up organizational scar tissue from not being competitive but its being in these spots and choosing not to rebuild that has leant itself to being uncompetitive and creating that scar tissue.

As usual, we will "work hard" but will lose 1-4. And some of us will be "unhappy" when we check standings.

I hope they dig a hole so deep to start that regardless of how they try to correct course, the gap and low morale of the group just won't be feasibly overcome.
They need to be force-fed their medicine (top pick).

Will Cooley get the start? I want to make a "Cool your Jets" joke every time he makes a save.

Last year when Sharangovich was hurt to start the year and finally came back I was willing to give him that time as I thought it was a high ankle sprain which can be hell to come back from. Turns out it was a foot fracture, and he probably should have been up to speed sooner but who knows. This year? No clue. I was excited when we first signed him, knew he was streaky but also knew he had a great shot and thought he'd add some goal scoring to the lineup. Hard to defend him at all these days and given his call out on national TV and even Steinberg on the post game show Saturday flat out saying they had to scratch him this isn't a surprise.

I still think you need to rotate Lomberg out. He hasn't done what he's paid to do.

Good thing the Flames as an offensively challenged team are benching Sharangovich to be able to play Lomberg and his 33% xGF% on the season.
Honestly that play that Bieksa called out was so ridiculous, you could pull a clip like that in every game.
Sharangovich at the end of his shift, Karlsson dumping the puck in for a change, Sharangovich going dor a change too. What did Bieksa expect, for Yegor to plaster Karlsson there. Never going to happen, and you're crazy if you expect that.

Bieska is the most powerful voice in hockey now.

I have no problem with them giving Sharangovich a game or two to sit but I don't think it's going to address the underlying issues that are causing everyone on the roster to have the same problem with scoring.

The Flames aren't making any lineup decisions based off something Bieksa says.
Lomberg hasn't done what he's paid to do? He's done a lot more for his money than Sharangovich has.

It's going to be a looooonnngggggg rebuild if we are complaining about benching Sharangovich already. Who would do more to deter someone taking a run at Parekh for an example? I doubt it would Yegor. The guy actively tries to avoid any and all contact right now. At least Lomberg finished hits and beats up Sissons

What specifically has Lomberg done? He has attempted a total of seven shots in six games and has been in a couple fights. It should be the responsibility of every player on the roster to contribute to wins in tangible ways, and if we're going to say Lomberg has done his job by firing up the team ... they sure don't look fired up to me.

Hopefully the Flames play and entertaining lose in the last minute kind of game for the fans that show up to the dome tonight. I'm all in on team tank! Go Jay's!
