Andersson is still getting the most ice-time on the team, 26:20 against Edmonton, and 25:26 against Vancouver- but as Erick Estrada pointed out above, Weegar has taken some penalties.

Weegar going to LD allows us to not have Parekh on his off side.

What do you mean "if"? He is already playing 25 minutes per game and he did so much of last season as well.
Planning for an Andersson trade, I really think we need to establish our new shutdown pair. Last year Andersson-Bahl did the heavy lifting playing with Backlund's line against other team's top lines. As soon as possible we need Weegar-Bahl to take on that role.
Andersson-Hanley could then take on the other job of playing with Kadri and Frost's lines as a more offensively deployed pairing

You might as well use a 5 forward pp2 at this point.

This is simply not true. Looking at 2022-2025, Andersson is tied for 20th in the league for goals scored by a D. Even if you add a few more years and make it 2020-2025 he is still 34th in the league for goals scored by a D.
That means he would be the top goal scorer in most D groups in the league or at least 2nd place.
If you want to be critical of his lack of assists, fine, but is that really his fault or does that fall on the shoulders of the people he passes the puck to? Also, the entire Flames roster struggled to score last year so it is silly (in my opinion) to be critical at a lack of assists.
Anyway, when you look at the facts, Andersson is still one of the best goal scoring D in the league and that alone would make him worth more than Walman's contract. The fact that he is by far the best D available for UFA this summer means that there will be a race or a bidding war for his services and it is just a matter of time before one of the other GMs makes a move.

Wide open net and he can't slide it in. Garbage.

With his play this far, it might be best to just let him walk if they can’t trade him. The decline is significant and steady. Might be time to slide him down in the lineup.

He is going to fumble the bag he could've gotten and I don't really feel bad for him. Vegas, if they even want to sign him, will be at a low number

He is still going to get at least 7x7 and probably more.

7+ easy.
His competition in the summer is a bunch of D who are either 6+ years older than him or are significantly worse (third pairing guys).
He is in every way the best D available and he is going to get paid. The question is really whether or not he is going to get $7M or more? Considering he is better than Walman it is easy to assume he will get paid more than Walman on the open market.

Man, when Ras is gone I hope people are prepared for the defensive freak show this team will be. I don't think the whole team buying into a defensive system will be enough.
I still think we should make the trade (hopefully at the TDL), because I am 100% youth movement at the moment, but there is zero chance we will make the playoffs if Ras is traded right now.

This. Flames are tossing in the towel on this season if Anderson is moved. They are 1000% a lottery team without him. They have nobody to eat his minutes/matchups.

I’m fine with that, realistically this team is rebuilding and missing the playoffs this season and getting a higher draft pick is probably what is needed.

While true, he is not playing well.
I think thats partly because he doesn't seem up to 'game speed' yet but I also think its partly because he's trying to do too much.

I sure hope if they trade him the Flames go out in the offseason and sign a UFA dman or two. They will have 24.4 million dollars and have Lomberg, Kirkland, Bean, Miromanov and Cooley as the only players that need to be replaced (along with Ras) from the current roster. Drop 14 million of that on two dman and rebuild the backend. And spend something on a backup goalie.
I get that they are doing a full blown rebuild but I am hoping they use that cap space to add a couple top 4 dmen and a solid backup goalie.

We probably need to think of the team in terms of cap floor. That would be my selling point to management. A lot less pocket dogs to sell with youth in the line up and ELCs.
