Agreed if we are talking about someone who is considered a high volume consumer of coffee and prefers something more than just the basics. Knowing what I know now, because I was going from hand mill grinders to electric, I wish I poured the cost of the Cuisinart into a higher end burr grinder.
But my response is to someone who who is going from pre-ground coffee to asking about a good grinder to grind beans they mistakenly bought. In such a scenario, I think it's a bit of a harder sell to get them to upgrade into the next tiers of grinders, even if it's only incrementally more.
I deal with people regularly in this latter category and I have to really bite my tongue. A better grinder makes no sense for them. They're the type of people trying to convince me that I'm wrong in their belief that a Lavazza Organic Tierra is superior to Kona coffee because it is organic

tastes just as good and is cheaper by volume. Don't get me started on their opinion about instant drip coffee. Apparently to them, it's as good as Monogram...
