He even called him "Wolfie", which I thought was kinda weird. Are they buds off the ice?

I actually don't think Skinner is so bad. I mean he's not great but the Oilers are paying 2.6M- that's backup money. You get what you pay for, the expectations are way too high and as a goalie it's easy to use him as a scapegoat.

Vladar makes 700k or so more for the next two years, neither are proven starters but I'd rather have Danny.

Maybe they should have cut him loose, not given Walman a $3M raise and gottend themselves a better goalie.

I do like Skinner actually.
He seems like a nice guy.
Always ready to answer tough questions with real responses.
I don't think you will win the Cup with him as starter.
So he's in the right place at the right time, and yeah, hopefully for a long time

They’ve both played at the Rogers Legends of Hockey together the last two years. Probably from that.

Stuart Skinner is 5-2-1 in his career against CGY, with a .933 sv%, and 2.15GAA, and 8 GSAA.

That said, I'd love to see more performances like last night against the Flames.

I don't think you can convince he isn't trying to play himself out of Edmonton. He wants a Masterson trophy.

But where? Nobody is giving them a starter and they don't have the assets to begin with. Bob and Markstrom are going nowhere and the UFA market next summer is completely dry outside of those two.

Not to worry, they've got The Pilchard on the bench.

Stuart Skinner went to the Mike Smith School for goalies who can’t handle the puck good and want to learn to do other things good too.

I think he’d look a lot better on a team with actual defence and not filled with guys who go disconnected controller in the defensive zone all the time.

Definitely not a guy good enough to overcome that, but I could see him being enough to win a cup on a team like Colorado or Carolina, for example.

He’s the one player I hope gets rescued out of Edmonton. And quite frankly I’m not worried about who Edmonton would replace him with, because I don’t think they can afford someone good enough nor is anyone good enough available to cover for the absolute disaster they are.

Agreed
I think years of playing him behind that team have left him shell-shocked and he's overthinking everything

Normally I think Skinner gets a raw deal and receives a disproportionate amount of blame for the Oilers' spectacular defensive gaffes.

But this game... I think it might be warranted this time.
