The White House published an executive order on Wednesday vowing to defend Qatar in the event of an attack from another country, a remarkable security guarantee for a single country akin to NATO’s Article V.
The#order, which President Donald Trump signed Monday, states that the White House will now consider “any armed attack” on Qatar “as a threat to the peace and security of the United States.”

On Qatar I think there is a lot more than a single 747. Kushner has had lots of real estate transactions with them after trump was president. and i don't believe any crypto transactions are published, and trump personally reportedly made $1 billion on that.
Anyways, it's Wild that the US is pledged to defend Qatar. And they just gave $20Billion to Argentina, which doesn't even really do any business in the US.
Wilder still that americans are ok with all this. At the same time removing support for former friends and allies.
Peter Zeihan had a (kinda, not totally) interesting comment on the US / Canada 51st State sabre rattling. Something about Zeihan’s arm wavy broad generalization approach bugs me but nonetheless he was saying that it’s just actually bad math for the USA to try and takeover Canada.
Canada has (apparently…) a big demographics problem and the cost of said problem with our aging population will be hugely expensive. The US gov would inherit that gigantic cost and so the cost of taking over Canada ain’t worth it.
Definitely had a bit of a tone of- but don’t kid yourselves Canada, if your resources were ever at threat of not being (essentially, via trade) beholden to the USA- the USA would immediately step in. I’m definitely sort of ad libbing / reading between the lines / providing my own thoughts though on this last paragraph.
Americans definitely view Canadian resources as essentially theirs.
I saw Zeihan speak several months ago and his point on Canada was essentially that the US already gets everything they want from us anyway. There is no need to have us as a state, because there is nothing to be gained.

Wilder still to assume USians even know about this. Media is bought and paid for and the electorate is uneducated. This is normal now, and it's just going to get worse for all.

On the other hand, promises made by the current administration are in no way binding, Trump could change his mind tomorrow, and will probably forget ever signing this order pretty soon.

Apparently Mussolini and Hitler changed their minds on a daily basis too.
There are a couple of easy murder/suicide jokes in there and one would think that since they'd be at the expense of Mussolini and Hitler nobody would bat an eye but...I'm just leavin' it. The season is about to start and I dont need to be binned.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

Newsom is awesome. I wish more politicians would be this blunt and direct with the categorically false stuff the GOP says on a minute-by-minute basis. Also wish the American media had this of size balls in just stating the truth; many of them have dropped the ball so hard on actually reporting on facts and are just kissing the ring.

Yep, odd but true. Similar thoughts got me a time out on FB.
MADELEINE DEAN: The president is unhinged. He's unwell
JOHNSON: A lot of folks on your side are too
D: Oh my god, please. That performance in front of the generals?
J: I didn't see it
D: It's so dangerous! Our allies are looking elsewhere. Our enemies are laughing. You have a POTUS who's unwell.
A couple things, Johnson seems to agree that trump is unhinged/unwell (or at least doesnt pushback on that characterization)
Any time a gop gets asked to comment on some crazy thing trump did or said they always answer 'i didnt see it'...its such bull
PM of Albania having a good laugh with President of Azerbaijan and Macron about Trump repeatedly claiming that he ended the war between their two countries which were not at war with each other.

I can imagine the jokes between those two about their phantom war.
