Kaprizov is THAT GOOD, yes.

He should be one of the highest paid players in the league.

Friedman also was saying that he believed another team was telling Kaprizov's camp through backchannels (i.e. tampering) that they were willing to give him more than $16 mil per year.

Never heard of the agent, Paul Theofanous, but he extracted pretty much every penny out of the Wild. Earned himself and his client a decent pay day.

It's Wild reading some of these fans questioning how good he is. It's like some of you only watch the Flames. He's an elite, franchise player. One of the best in the league.

I love it. If he gets $17m then what does McDavid get?

Floor is now set for McDavid's extension, or lack thereof

Meh, how can you really police this kinda thing? If you're Guerin, you've gotta know other teams are gonna be whispering in the agent's ear.

Same thing happened on a much smaller scale with us, Washington and Kylington. Happens all the time.

Wow. That's a lot of money.

Still interesting that its the average salary for an NBA player if not below average for a starter.

The new CBA caps signing bonuses at 60% of the total contract.
Wild able to sneak this in because that provision doesn't start until September 2026.

I wish we had this player to overpay, personally.

An interesting comparison is Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, who earns a cool $27 million per year. I'm surprised Kaprizov will make 63 per cent of what Salah, who has so much more global appeal, does.

Well, they can sell some jerseys at least.

Don't think winning teams get built around max contract players, personally.

He was on his way to a Hart and a Ross last year, before injury.

It doesn’t matter how good he is. It’s minny. This contract will be an albatross within 3 years.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I don’t think McDavid’s agent was going to allow him to sign a deal before this deal was done. How dumb would you look as an agent if your player signed, then a month or so later a player with less talent signs for more than what your guy got.

Don’t know if McDavid stays in Edmonton or not, but his contract will have a higher AAV than this one.

It's very possible as the Wild are caught in the same vortex as the Flames, Coyotes, Sabres, Jackets, Flyers and may as well add the Kraken where teams are eternally mediocre and/or seldom win a round in the playoffs when they make it. Seems like everytime they take a step forward, it's accompanied by a step or two back.
