Probably as good a time as any to note that this team had to resort to crowdfunding to get to the World Cup, and now they've played their way into the final!

I am thinking the men will need to do that in 2027 as well.
I believe, but could be wrong, that make and female programs receive the same funding in Canada.
Which is less that what the Black Ferns, England, France, etc get.

Since it has been going around, this needs some clarification: the team did not need crowdfunding to go to the World Cup. They said they’d need $3.6M to fund the program they would need to win the World Cup. Money is hard to come by for Rugby Canada, and they could only allocate $2.6M to also ensure other programs were funded. So the crowdfunding was for the rest.

I really enjoy women's rugby the game is different from the men's. Less kicking for territory and running into contact and more moving the ball to space.

Sophie de Goede (Canada), Megan Jones (England) and Jorja Miller (New Zealand) nominated for Women’s Player of the Year in partnership with HSBC - each recognised for their world-class performances and impact throughout the season.

Good start to take the lead but then some unforced errors on turnovers and bad kicks has them down 21-5. Had the ball inches away from a try and then coughed it up.
Had the ball 4 times within 5m and only got a penalty kick. England just as many times within 5 and got tries all except once. That’s the difference. Canada did have them on the back foot early in the second half but not capitalizing on chances to get it to within one score was it.
Watched at the Ship, atmosphere was great. Shame about the result but the hype the team got was well deserved and hopefully it can translate to more funding (and more interest/participation) and build off of it.
Spent too long not playing their game, when they were things were looking promising. Was also really tough watching the scrums get destroyed. As a front rower there's no better feeling than dominating a scrum, even better than scoring, but having it go the other way also feels the worst. Big influence on the game. Botterman being sent off set up the perfect scrum opportunities inside the 22 by forcing a wing off the field, but when you can't trust the scrum it just handcuffs you.
The timing isn't going to work out to make it to the Men's World Cup in Australia in 2027, but might make a go at the 2029 Women's down there if it lines up right.

The scrum was shocking the Canadian tighthead needs to own her lack of performance. Also our Hooker was off in the lineouts.
It was always an uphill battle, I saw somewhere that or every $1 Canada spent England $120 on prep.
It was great watching it with my close friend. She played for Canada at the 1998 World Cup in Holland.
One thing to remember, every other team, with the exception of England, would be happy to accept a Silver medal.
Well done ladies.
