I think people need to understand that the reason this is dragging on is because the other GMs know the position the Flames are in and are hedging their bet that Conroy panics and takes less to just make the trade. That is why Conroy needs to do the whole song and dance of saying he is open to Andersson returning. It is all who is going to blink first. Craig has an asking price and is waiting for a team to meet it. I am perfectly fine with this going into the season. Only true deadline is the trade deadline.

There's that story about Andersson from today... then a story from the end of August about the Panthers taking a 2-0 lead in the Final over Edmonton --- except, they didn't have a 2-0 lead in the 2025 Final, meaning it's a random story from a year and a half ago, that somehow got posted a month ago. Then, there's a few stories about last season's trade deadline. Finally, there's a weird random story about the history of the sport.

Imo, I'd say perhaps the deal to Dallas is lacking but their need is top 4 R handed D. Benn is out so Coleman would be a great add. I think if the sticking points are what else to put in there, we could add to the 2nd etc but I feel the core pieces are there?

One difficulty in moving Andersson is there’s likely a wide spread of assessments of his value. If last year wasn’t an anomaly, and it’s who Andersson is going forward (a 30 pt D-man with a shaky defensive impact), teams aren’t going to pony up the value Conroy is looking for. Which is why I don’t think a deal is done until at least Christmas, and Andersson’s has half a season to show where he’s at.

There'd be montages of his 20 minute night a few games ago showing all the good things he did etc.

Calgary seems like the perfect landing spot for this kid. With the Team Canada snub too he is going to have a mighty chip on his shoulder. Hopefully he can channel that like Kadri has.

I said it months ago and I will say it again now, if Conroy doesn't get his asking price for Andersson he will give him the contract Rasmus wants to stay. They can always revisit a trade down the road. Don't go into this thinking Andersson has to be traded for pennies on the dollar, Conroy will absolutely get a contract done with him if the market is not there right now.

He wouldn’t, because any player who has played an NHL game is ineligible according to their criteria. It has nothing to do with who he plays for.
