#### that. WhatsApp is owned by Meta. No thank you.

We're not talking forever here, but seems to have been something they implemented half-baked. Especially for the tech strugglers who do this at the last possible minute in line.
I think they have changed it.

I booked a trip to Toronto yesterday and I wasn't asked.

But yeah only email as an option is balls.

I consider insurance a form of gambling.

It's not a scam, but it is insidious. Expanded government involvement will not make it less so.
Talk to the woman who doesn’t have a paying job but is raising three children after losing her husband. Or the family who lost their dad/husband was injured and unable to work for three years.

Heh I like when an industry gets dumped on in here and we then get to learn what industry certain posters work in.

That said if anyone ever has anything bad to say about the jerking punks off under a bridge for ten bucks a pop industry I'm gonna have some choice words for them I'll tell you what.

Well that raises tons of questions. How do you qualify as a punk? Is there a form I have to fill out? Do you offer payment terms? Klarna or something similar? Is there a left-hand discount? In the good old days, you could get a handy on any street corner and haggle on the price. Since Big Jerk consolidated the industry and relocated it to the Jerking District, past the Hobo district and adjacent to the Hand Cream area, it seems ... I dunno... somewhat impersonal. Ah, well, the price for progress, and it is great to hear you are doing well.

Just needles everywhere.
There's no need to be a prick about it.

Not being able to find a replacement isn't different between the two provinces. Imagine the same situation but probably a 30-50% payout reduction and no negotiation for that extra $1K. You're even less likely to afford a suitable replacement.

I think ICBC offers a similar gap insurance for nee cars, so maybe your friend decided against it?

But I don’t know whether a payout would be that much less in BC than anywhere else. I assume the go by comparables within the vicinity of the insured person.

Prick, as in a pin prick?

In general yes.

Insurance is an oligopoly where people rarely interact with the product so have no way of deciding if service is good.

In these areas with no meaningful competition a crown corporation may produce better results.

And then gets denied because of an undisclosed preexisting condition or suicide or lack of payment because of the illness leading up to the death.

Those usually only affect the first two years of an insurance policy which seems pretty reasonable.
