How much were those things originally? Pre covid, it seemed like $200-300 was stupendously expensive and nearly top tier. Now, lots of people shrug at the plethora of $500-1,000 grinders. I don't mind picking up something that seems like value, but I'm holding off because the prices are kinda crazy and not seeming like the greatest of value as a result.

I recall the status thing, but more so that it was a bit pricier than other energy drinks.
Starbucks has had a baseline of like $5 for several decades. I don't recall Redbull or energy drinks ever being cheaper than cafe coffee... unless you're going by caffeine content and you're drinking multiples a day.
I feel like people went crazy in the last decade. Most people drank 1 cup a day of coffee or 1 can of energy drink. Maybe 2 if you had a rough night. Anything more than that and you were basically joked of as a caffeine addict/health concerns discussions. Now, I think tons of people drink multiple cups of coffee or cans of energy drink a day, and I'm one of them. It ain't right.

The back-to-school sales are the best time to stock up on coffee.
I purchased ~40lbs from Rosso in their recent sale for ~$14/lb. I freeze the coffee, and 40lbs will last for ~6months.

I paid $145 for my Encore back in 2014.

Rosso is really good. When are those sales on? Did you buy 20 2lb bags or do they have bulk?

How'd you get that sale? Is it some type of rewards offer? Or some kind of in school fundraising thing?

I swipe coffee from the local school when nobody is looking. Their coffee security is alarmingly lax.
I figure I pay for it with my Tax dollars. Government subsidized coffee!

Bought the 3300. Should arrive tonight unfortunately, was hoping for sometime this morning. Tempted to drive all the way down to a Monogram since that's my favourite coffee at the moment.

Which version of the Encore? There's a $200 and $280 on Amazon. 30% increase after 10 years technically isn't bad.

Security is lax because that stuff is likely not worth defending...

It was on their website before the Labour Day weekend (50% off the 1st month's subscription).
I purchased eight 5lb bags ($65 per bag), waited to receive the coffee, and then cancelled the subscription. Paying over $500 for a single order feels steep, but at 18g per shot of espresso, that order will end up making ~1000 cups of coffee at a cost of a little over $0.50 per cup.

Kicking Horse is on sale on Amazon, not sure if it's a good price or not.

This is the type of things I should funnel super caffeinated energies into. I applaud how clever this scheme was.
Do you have a Rosso Rewards account as well? I'm curious what happens if you buy that much coffee.

$14-15/pound is a good price.

The purchase was enough to push me to a reward for a free 2lb bag of their house espresso blend, which usually retails for ~$50 (I had some points from previous purchases as well). Their rewards program is decent, and every large bulk order usually pushes me into a free coffee bag reward.

The cheap one, that's the original without the fine tuning adjustment.
