I know there's only 10 games left and the lead on the Yanks is 4 games and with the tiebreaker is practically 5 games which would imply a heavy level of comfort on winning the AL East and getting a WC bye . . . . but as a Jays fan I would be preparing for some level of anxiety in closing out these two goals for the following reasons:
1. Schedule - The Yankees have the easiest next 10 games with 7 against Baltimore and 3 against the worst team in the American League who in most seasons would be the worst team in baseball if it weren't for the Rockies in the White Sox. The Jays on the other hand have 3 against the Red Sox, 3 against the Royals, 4 against the Rays. It's highly probable the Yanks win 8 or more of their games even without being any good themselves.
2. The Jays are beat up. Without Bichette, teams can pitch around Vladdy easier and the bottom of the lineup has had trouble hitting. Kirk is clearly fighting something with how much time off he's been given.
Bottom Line: It's probably going to take 3-5 Jays wins in the last 10 to bring this home and that's not exactly a layup with 7 of 10 against the Rays / Red Sox with how banged up they are and without a closer.

You mean winning baseball games should be the goal? I'll just remind you that some here were predicting us losing the division lead by the end of the holiday weekend. They've shown grit all year long, and I don't see that changing. Gotta get the bats out now and roast the Rays today.

Jays down 3 - 0 to 28 of the 29 other MLB teams: This team has some magic, I think they can pull this off.
Jays down 3 - 0 to the Rays: THERESNOHOPENOHOPENOHOPEATALL

Jays bats have had a hard time early in games for a lot of this month. Always seem under pressure late in games

The Jays starters all seem to have this issue where they get knocked around for one inning but are solid around it.

Going into this series I think we were all hoping for a split. Just kind of crappy the way it happened losing the last 2. Yankeees lost to the twins and almost blew a 10-1 lead. I'm confident that the O's can steal a couple of games from the Yankees. They aren't running the table

Boston and Detroit both L. Maybe the Os can completely save this day. Seems lucky to have split this last series with the bats being so cold.

Were the bats cold or was the Tampa Ray voodoo in effect?

Yeah. I certainly would have been happy with a split if you offered that before the series started. And I'd be thrilled with that result if you told me they'd only score 8 runs in regulation over the four games.
But I think 2 runs per game is not good for the offense. They need to be better than that - seems like they're really missing Bo. Maybe Santander can come up and be a bit of a spark.
