Discover and Condor may have both had bomb/hijack threats, and they scrambled a bunch of stuff here. Pretty serious response, this will be in the news for sure.
Discover was told to hold and then an F18 escorted him in.

I read one of them did a go-around.

Looking like 3 planes involved, all from Germany so likely not a coincidence.
- Discover #1 from Frankfurt: go around then landed normally and taxiied to gate
- Condor from Frankfurt: holding pattern, escorted by fighters, landed, immediate bomb protocol
- Discover #2 from Munich: holding pattern, escorted by fighters, landed, immediate bomb protocol

One or both of Condor and Discover #2 evacuated and passengers were bussed back to the terminal. Not sure if they popped slides but it's rare to pop slides and have no injuries especially on these huge planes... I left a couple hours ago I don't know how urgent the evacuations were.

The video of the Condor didn't have its slides deployed.

I've never heard that they have these "immediate" bomb protocols. Is there a "we'll get to it when we can" bomb protocol?

Yeah Munich taxiing/towing to the gate now so they couldn't have popped slides either. Bomb protocol is you just don't go to the terminal, you go to a remote part of the airport so you can blow up there instead of our new billion dollar international terminal.

In the news now, though they say absolutely nothing as of now.

Quote:
Police responded to an incident involving a plane at the Calgary International Airport on Monday afternoon, prompting a temporary increase in security measures.
According to the Calgary Police Service, officers were called to the airport at approximately 2:20 p.m. following an incident involving an incoming aircraft.
The plane landed safely, and all passengers got off the plane without injury. Police confirm there is no risk to public safety, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Calgary Airports Authority acknowledged the response and thanked travellers for their patience as required security checks were completed. Passengers are being advised to check their flight status with airlines.
“The safety, security and well-being of our passengers and crew remain our top priority,” the airport said in a statement.
No further details have been made available.

"Temporary increase in security measures" = rapidly scrambled, multi-nation coordinated response of fighters and support aircraft
I've been working at airports for a long time and I've never seen a fighter jet as close to a commercial airliner as that F18 was when it ripped over top of the Munich plane.

Were all these flights on their way to Calgary? Or the bomb threat forced them to land here?

Oh no! Ze Germans are coming!!
Why didn't they land in Quebec? They could have taken down a whole new brand of French?

So a NORAD response. Presumably CAF F-18's from Cold Lake (?) and we know the KC-135R tanker was from Fairchild AFB in Spokane. News also mentions F15's. Nearest base for those is Mountain Home AFB just outside Boise, Idaho. Which explains the tanker I suppose. Did they actually make it as far as YYC? Hard to track them like you can the tanker.

Yes, the F-15's made it to YYC. Quite a few photos of them taken yesterday over Calgary. One wonders if they were given the ok to go supersonic getting here?
