On the player fault side, this is definitely a golden rule that gets overlooked. When you’re got a guy who is going out there shooting 110 and he’s pulling out the range finder on every shot, taking 2-3 clubs to his ball so he can pick based on the read, standing over putts and trying to pick the perfect line…
Like hunny, this isn’t the PGA and if it were you’re not making the cut regardless of what you do. Put the tools and Golf YouTube tips away and play the game.

Had a similar experience at Shaganappi once. We were the last group in twilight and the group in front of us was so slow we went back 3 holes and played them again. We caught them twice doing that.
We were going to only play 9 holes but think we got in 15 or something like that.

Anyone know any good places for re-gripping in Calgary? The turnaround at golf town is ridiculous these days.

One of the staff at my golf course showed me how to do it years ago. I do mine in my garage. I buy my grip tape and solvent off Amazon and the grips when Golf Town has grips on sale.

The quality of a lot of sand in this city is atrocious. I know courses are trying save money, but tee times are also booked the F up, courses are raking in money. Put the money into it. Its not real golf when your shoes literally sit perfectly on top of the sand like a sidewalk.

The thing is, the courses really aren’t taking in the money, and bunkers are the most expensive part for them to maintain. I agree with the sand quality and consistency, because it’s really frustrating!

4 inches from my first ace today
Shot a 49-40-89. For some reason, I can't start well and almost always end up with 2 very different nines.

Courses aren't raking it in? After covid, prices have shot up, decent twilight rates at a reasonable time are gone and tee sheets are jam packed at any okay to nice course. I don't see how most courses aren't raking it in relative to pre covid economics in golf courses.
edit: caveat being that I know it's a short season in Calgary, but that's always been the case with way lower prices and sparser tee sheets, pre covid.

Nice set-up.
You'll be shocked, as I was, but you dont even need the special tape, and solvent. Temu grips, and masking tape. I buy midsize grips, put a couple wraps with standard making tape and then use an aircompressr with a tip similar to fill a basket ball to blow them on.

It’s very capital intensive though. Most of the money comes from alcohol sales and that’s not that great considering the operating hours and short season. I know it seems crazy to suggest that courses like Blue Devil aren’t taking in the cash at $110 a round plus a cart. But the margins aren’t that great.
