Beaver Canoe and Roots sweatshirts.

I was the most popular kid in grade 10. I went to Hong Kong for the summer and went to a Fila factory and bought about 100 Fs to bring back.

We all had "Fila" shirts. lol

I don’t grow up poor but my mom loved bargains so it was Army and Navy and Liquidation world and Costco and Smithens Auctions. The Smithens auction finds were a blast. Once got a huge box of very high end Halloween masks. Those were awesome. I can now just picture my dad with all the dumb crap she would come home with. A jukebox once and an organ. He would totally have said Jesus H Christ on a Popsicle Stick Diane.

Remember the Roots and Beaver Canoe sweater craze. Also Randy River for higher end stuff or kangaroo shoes with a little pocket in them for some money.

Haha, Johnny says the same.

Ugh the orange tab thing is bringing back bad memories.
I struggled in Grade 7. I was still more a kid than a teen, but wasn't fashion savvy. I wore rugby pants and got bullied and made fun of. I convinced my mom I needed jeans, and Levi jeans, and didn't understand why I still got made of just because of the color of the tab.

Being a kid is hard.

I remember those! I was so confused why they suddenly became a thing and then rapidly disappeared.

I recall not wearing anything with brands, even hand me downs. Then I finally had some new clothes... but they were Engrish. Finally I had something new and "branded" when I had Umbro soccer shorts from playing soccer, but then it was made fun of for being somewhat reflective.

I argued with the playground bully about that. He said he could beat me up and somehow I randomly retorted he wasn't capable enough to clean up a bag of garbage at recess and he went "challenge accepted". So we went to janitor to get a garbage bag and filled it up together by the end of the recess. He was reluctant to give us the bag at first, thinking we were stealing bags to create mischief. By the end of recess, he ran out and yelled at us not to climb into the dumpster to throw out the bag/told us to leave it by the door and he'd throw it away. We did this for a month and other kids joined to help clean up. IIRC, he never bullied us again. I sometimes wonder what happened to Rory.

Agreed being a kid is hard. It was also really random too. Then there's certain things that maybe we didn't think of much when we were kids, but then is even more heartbreaking than realized in hindsight.

I never thought I'd get to a point where buying something like peaches in early September was outside of things that I can afford. But at $3 a pound or more in most places...it was nice knowing your sweet sweet taste peaches. Unless I was to spend like $4 in fuel and 40 minutes of time to drive to the nearest H&W produce who put them on for $1.97.

Or the whole wool socks/sandals (Birks or Tevas if I remember right) trend in the 90s. I remember wanting to participate in that trend so badly, and then I finally got a pair of Birkenstocks (After saving and saving) and was so excited.

Also, Birks were awesome for hacky sacking.

I remember the most popular Starters being the Hoyas, Charlotte Hornets, and of course the Chicago Bulls. Neither of them have been particularly successful for quite a while...

Looks kinda nerdy, but Birks seem to be fairly popular again with the younger kids these days. My kids wear them and I see them on a lot of their friends...often with socks.

I wear them.

I used to wear flip flops, but age and a bad ankle made me transition to Birks.

I love 'em
