That's it, that's the list. They have one thing other than McDavid that has given them a chance to win.
The same exercise done for other teams lists more than one. Things like an elite goaltender, #1s and #2s at D, coaching, and depth.

Where would the oilers finish in the standings if they were without mcdavid? Now look at all the teams ahead of them in this hypothetical. These are the teams that have a better chance if they add mcdavid. Seems to me there would be a lot of them. How many of the projected cap space? Most. Pretty easy to figure Gregor. He's gone.

McDavid needlessly throwing "...no term" on at the end is wild. He had finished talking, the question was answered and he felt the need to pin that ending.

Honestly if you put McDavid and Draisaitl on teams like the Flyers or the Sabres I bet they'd be deep in the playoffs by the 2nd year.

If there is one thing Edmonton is fantastic at...it's desperation and insecurity. So yeah, we don't need to hope for anything. A lot of moving parts still, but Edmonton just being themselves is enough to give us Flames fans what we have been waiting for since the lottery in 2015.

It's hard to imagine a happy player doing something like that.

This is gold. Gold, Jerry, Gold. And written by an Oilers fan.
I wrote this in the McDavid and Drai thread. Most people think I am crazy for ever saying a bad word about the almighty... but I no one is willing to criticize this dude.. makes me nuts.
I have been saying for a long time that I do not like McDavid's leadership. I do not like his interference, I do not like his "all about getting me a cup" attitude, I do not like his interviews where he just looks like it is all beneath him and he just spouts cliches.
I do not like that he disappears in the final
I do not like that he doesn't play a lick of defence, but then gets pissy when asked why.
I do not like that he doesn't dominate in the big moments - just in the "it doesn't matter" moments.
I do not like that structures do not apply to him - every system we have already revolves around him and then he doesn't even follow it.
I do not like that he has never captained a championship team in his entire career except two meaningless tournaments.
Enjoy McDavid... because as long as we have him - we will not get a cup.

This is going to sound unthinkable, but what if McDavid turns likeable after he leaves? Like just turns into a loveable goof because he's finally free from the shackles of Edmonton.
I never thought I could like that greasy friggen loudmouth Luongo, yet here we are. And all he did was leave Vancouver.

Hopefully the Oilers have a slow start again like they have the last two seasons, because this time that market will get hostile if McDavid hasn't signed and the Oilers aren't in the playoffs at the 20 game mark

I dunno, Luongo you could tell had a personality even if you didn't like him as a Canuck.
McDavid just seems to have as much personality as cardboard. I don't think he'd ever be likeable. Draisaitl, you can tell guy is a prick, even if he's not an Oiler.
Stuart Skinner at least you can tell seems like he'd be a pretty likeable guy if he were not an Oiler.

The panic will set in if the Oilers lose the annual Preseason Championship.

Pretty much zero charisma between McDrai. In an office environment they would be two people that everyone kind of just leaves alone or avoids if they can.

David Staples is such a shill for the Oilers. We'll see how their upcoming season goes.

Bob Stauffer is an Edmonton insider only. The team provides him information and tells him what he's allowed to discuss. It's not the same as an insider that has legit connections around the league and breaks stories for all 32 teams.
So he says Kelly's article has no credibility yet he comes out with his own rebuttal which also has no iota of credibility attached to it. The guy is such a putz.

Kelly’s insight may prove out. But that doesn’t mean what he has to say here has one iota of credibility attached to it.

My own conclusion is that if it was something so easy to dismiss why the pissy rebuttal article? The reality is that things are getting a little tight around the collar for Oilers fans, media, and Staples.
Quote:
4. My own conclusion? Toronto sports writers are going to Toronto sports write. They’re going to come up with all kinds of wonky theories and bonkers notions. They’ll keep reading McDavid’s body language and his mind, as if that were a thing.
Article content
And they’ll keep on providing the rest of us a great amount of amusement.
Article content
Goodness knows, we can all use a chuckle.
