Don't know why the gameplan for the batters seemingly changed after game 1. They made Schlittler work and got rewarded because of it. Yesterday they swung at so many first pitches and got themselves out even though Gil was throwing more balls than strikes. And early on they look to be doing the same against Fried.

Scherzer needs to watch how he holds the ball in the glove when guys are on second. He doesn’t really shield his hand to cover it. Judge was raising his hands just as soon as it looked like Scherzer was gripping the ball. Rice crushed a ball just barely foul right afterwards.

That was all sorts of awkward from Springer. Judge’s shoulder seems to almost be messing with the Jays. Sometimes he’s lobbing and other times he’s throwing hard and they don’t seem to know what’s coming. He seemed to almost underestimate the throw from Judge there and ended up not sliding.
Rough for Volpe to get the error there.

If Myles Straw was sitting on anything other than a fastball in a full count, it’s a huge mistake. Unless you are elite, you have to look fastball and try to adjust.

I’m guessing the swelling kicked in today and they wanted to give him time with the day off tomorrow. Hopefully he’s available as a pinch hitter.
