Prior to COVID-19, he was a darn fine player. I think he might have even contracted COVID and that impacted him pretty severely along with various other injuries.
Edit: Not sure he ever contracted COVID, but he was in contact with a coach who did test positive for COVID and was banned from participating at the French Open. After this though, he was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis in 2022.

The Medvedev post-match press conference is below - The guy truly thinks he did nothing wrong and even goes so far saying Bonzi should be fined for coaching. Last I checked, coaching is now allowed. To me, he's just a guy having trouble coming to grips with the fact that he is no longer a threat in grand slams and is looking for any kinds of excuse.
