Perhaps Mr Schow should focus on fixing the province’s labour code(his actual job) that is in shambles and then once that is fixed he can start worrying about solving the rest of the province’s problems that he is not in charge of. Just a thought.

An Alberta oilfield services company has been fined nearly $450,000 for unsafely storing and illegally profiting from industrial sewage it was not authorized to accept.
In a decision issued last week, Red Deer-based Terroco Industries Ltd. was penalized by the Alberta Energy Regulator for a string of infractions dating back to the summer of 2023.#
In response to the investigation, O'Connor made conflict of interest allegations against an AER inspector and claimed the regulator had no jurisdiction over his company because he's Indigenous.#
At a July 2025 meeting between the company and the regulator, Terroco Industries challenged AER's jurisdiction.
According to the AER report, O'Connor read aloud a document which he brought titled "oral proclamation" and provided printed copies to those in attendance.#
That document "goes on to state that as Terrance is a Sovereign Indigenous Person, the AER has 'no jurisdiction to adjudicate this case', and that he trusts the AER will 'drop all charges.'

Insurance is out of control. How are people even making it out there? My wife and I both have great paying jobs and it still feels like we're falling behind. I just got quoted 4800$/yr for my house + car insurance.

Are you with TD? Seems that every time the issue of sky-high insurance premiums pops up, 99% of the time it's with TD.

No I'm not, I just got requoted from my broker for intact. I'll be doing some shopping around and see if I can get any cheaper, but I have insurely for home right now and its cheaper than intact with the auto + home.

Opinions please. I contacted an election candidate who’s a UCP boot kicker. I suspected he’s a separatist so I asked him. He says he’s not a separatist but refuses to sign my Forever Canadian petition. I have to think he’s lying and is a separatist. I can’t think of any other reason not to sign unless he feels a united Canada is unpopular, which it is not.

What is frightening is the UCP wants to let American Health Insurance companies into Alberta.

Thanks for sharing that. It is fun to look at the graphs and see where the NDP years are. In both graphs those are the only years that the line tried to flatten out or even go down a bit.
And then once the UCP is in power the line skyrockets. Even though Smith said all of her hard work deregulating those industries would help bring down costs.... weird.
It is like regulations are the government's way to represent the interests of the people in the relationship with Corporations and if you remove regulations then all you really do is remove the interests of the people.

Lawyers for the Alberta government suggest in a new court filing that former Alberta Health Services (AHS) head Athana Mentzelopoulos may have broken her contract by secretly recording conversations with the provincial health minister and AHS board members while her lawyers assert her actions were legal and justified to shield off political interference.

Yeah insurance (scam) is way out of control. Just got our new quotes and wow/ not sure how anyone can afford any of this. Wild.
Such a scam. Government has totally ####ed this up. This issue alone is enough to boot the UCP. Total disaster.

The UCP will not be booted because of the #### state of insurance premiums in Alberta
What part of Insurance do you think is a scam?

I’m in the insurance is a scam camp. Predatory industry that knows consumers have little choice bit to buy their product. I don’t think they really compete with each other, just operate on the premise that they are guaranteed a certain amount of new clients because literally everybody shops around. If it was competitive I would not as a great driver with a flawless record play musical chairs with insurance companies every year. Entire industry is a joke. There needs to be a government run option that focuses on just the facts and data. It’s comical how much the rates vary from different providers which is an indication of how much the industry is really has no idea how to properly assess risk.
Yes the weather, Alberta drivers suing more, repair costs, bigger and more expensive cars ,will skew us higher but it should not be to the level it has gone.

If he was anti any referendum on separatism that is a reasonable position.
Or he is playing a political game where he believes the cost of him signing this Petition is greater than the cost of not signing it.
Or he’s a separatist.

They don't compete, but they have varying rates
