Like I posted earlier Blank Check out out a 3h40min episode about a 1h50min movie. They had more random chat than actual movie talk, but I love the silliness of it.

Anyone else list to Gloves up? I enjoyed it, bit of speculation about Trumps effect on Canada, and best/worst case scenarios.

I'm not sure why, but I'm kind of entertained by the prospect of Canada's response to potential American aggression, even if just in a train wreck can't look away kind of way.

Desert Island Discs

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qnmr

Late one evening in 1941, freelance broadcaster Roy Plomley was at his home and already in his pyjamas, when an idea came to him. He sat down and wrote immediately to the BBC. That letter reached the in-tray of the BBC’s Head of Popular Record Programmes, Leslie Perowne. The pitch was successful and a broadcasting institution was born.

That first Desert Island Discs was recorded in the BBC’s bomb-damaged Maida Vale studio on 27th January 1942 and aired in the Forces Programme at 8pm two days later. It was introduced to the listening public as "a programme in which a well-known person is asked the question, if you were to be cast away alone on a desert island, which eight gramophone records would you choose to have with you, assuming of course, that you had a gramophone and an inexhaustible supply of needles".

My selections if forced to choose:

Book - The Power of Myth - Joseph Campbell

Luxury Item - Guitar (or fly rod)

XTC - Mayor of Simpleton
Los Lobos - Saint Behind The Glass
https://www.thissongchangedmylife.co...hanged-my-life
Rolling Stones - Rocks Off
REM - Nightswimming
Throwing Muses - Not Too Soon
ABBA - Knowing Me, Knowing You
Husker Du - Celebrated Summer
Replacements - Left Of The Dial

My Canadian Discs:

Young Canadians - Hawaii
Diodes - Tired Of Waking Up Tired
Modern Minds (Moe Berg) - It’s Gone
New Pornographers - The Laws Have Changed
Martha and the Muffins - Echo Beach
Rough Trade - High School Confidential
Bruce Cockburn - Lovers In A Dangerous Time
Tragically Hip - Bobcaygeon

Listening to 32 Thoughts right now and never realized how damn slow Elliot Friedman's speech pattern is, I had to bump the playback up to 1.7x speed for it to be somewhat normal.

I don't recall him doing this on TV, I'm guessing he's just relishing having the podcast mic and no one in his ear telling him to pick it up.

It’s an awful podcast. It’s much better to just find the notes and tidbits from it online. IMO

obviously about smalltown murders but done by a couple stand up comedians who have pretty good on air presence.
They make fun of the small town for the first 20 mins to give you a perspective on the local climate relating to such crimes.
Also a disclaimer in the episodes that they never make fun of the victims or the families before anyone gets bent out of shape.
Thanks for the recommend. Listened to one and it is quite good. Funny and irreverent, but not too over the top with the jokes. One of those listens where you don't absolutely need to pay attention to all the details, so I think it would be great for walking the dog or on your commute.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
