At this point Parekh will have to play his way OFF the team vs ON.
He’s pretty much inked as a starter.

Just me being dumb likely, but do they feel they have seen him against NHLers enough to have that opinion now?

No, he has signed an NHL contract, which makes him ineligible to play in the NCAA. It's either the NHL or the OHL for him.

I'm with him on Potter, I think he'll be the most exciting forward to watch since #13

Potter being a player would certainly help the Tkachuk trade
(not that it was bad anyway considering the circumstances)

Parekh looked absolutely lost at times in the pre-season games he played, but he fit in nicely in his one game at the end of the season. There will be headaches along the way in his development, but I'm not worried anymore.

I can’t wait until they trust him in OT. He is going to entertain!

There's no reason to doubt Conroy on this. The Flames brass have had more than enough time this year to assess how Parekh ranks against NHLers. Examples:
- He practiced with the Flames for several weeks after the OHL season ended
- He has an NHL game under his belt and didn't receive sheltered match-ups during that game
- He was on the taxi squad for the World Championship team (Huska was the assistant coach) and played in a couple exhibition games

I honestly believe the ex-Flames in Florida prevented 2 Oilers cups. Hard to hate the trade with that in mind!

My one big ask of from the fanbase is that we don’t put too high of an expectation on him, especially in his first few years, potentially making him the new overrated whipping boy.
He is going to make mistakes in his first couple of years and that is okay. Let’s learn from the mishandling of Sam Bennett and continue to give opportunities and playing time to Parekh even when he will inevitably mess up due to growing pains.
I’m certain and most fans are, that Parekh will eventually develop into a stud if we freely allow him to.

Partly agree. Expectations should be high, and the best players in the world use this pressure as motivation and then meet and exceed those expectations. I do agree on the part about inevitably making mistakes and giving him a long leash, both due to age as well as the type of high risk / high reward player he is.
I agree with a lot of posters on here, he has to be penciled into the opening night roster and it's his to lose in camp (especially if the flames do what they should and trade Rasmus before opening night). IMO he should start the season quarterbacking the number one power play, and be played on the 3rd pairing with a stay at home vet (not sure who) that get's sheltered offensive zone starts, until he shows he can play sufficient defense against NHL players.

I have high expectations for puck movement and offense in general (maybe not counting stats, but being involved offensively at least). I have VERY tempered expectations for defensive play, which will likely be a work in progress with growing pains to be expected

Added a poll for offensive production.
Interesting one to answer with games played being a key parameter before you can project the offence.
Lane Hutson had 66 points in 82 games, but was 2 years older.

Agree with the bolded, but here's my personal ask regarding expectations:
I think we should have high expectations for him given he clearly has them for himself. But having high expectations does not preclude being patient or kind.
Should he struggle a bit (or a lot) and need some time adapting to the NHL - defensively, offensively, or both - my ask to the fanbase would be to be patient and maybe just don't be a prick about it.

I’m guessing he gets just less than 50 points.
