Most overrated player in the history of the game, and this is even from outside the fact I despise the Oilers. Selfish, one dimensional player who is undisciplined and a poor leader and likely poor teammate. Has been put on a pedestal by the media since his early teens and that has propped his stardom far above what he should be. Keeps being touted as the best player in the world but hasn’t even been the best player on his team the last few years and can’t really recall when he has been the best player in the league any given year. You don’t win with players like this, he continues to be a complete no show when everything is really on the line. Without all the relating from the media, McDavid should realistically be signed to a Marner type deal, maybe very slightly more but not significantly.
lol I hate the Oilers and McDavid as much as anyone here but this is ridiculous

Who is the smelliest Oiler? (Doesn’t have to be based on firsthand olfactory knowledge).

I mean, the name “Knoblauch” is German for “garlic.”

Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid believed to be taking joint honeymoon

Quote:
If Connor McDavid is willing to share a honeymoon with Leon Draisaitl, it's probably a close enough friendship that will keep them both in Edmonton for their whole careers.

A sweet story being shared on social media about Connor and Lauren. Connor wanted to rent some scuba gear on the trip, but unfortunately he was declined because he didn't have the proper certification. The staff laughed and as a dejected Connor was walking away, Lauren got defensive. Being the quick-thinker of the two, she whipped out her phone and showed the staff highlights of McDavid playing for the Oilers the last few years.

The staff was amazed, they apologized and immediately recognized McDavid with the highest recreational certification, Master Diver. He was able to get his scuba gear and the trip was saved! Way to go Lauren, defended Connor and saved the trip, because we all know McDavid can't defend anything.

Nice article today about James Wisniewski ripping on the Oilers and saying you don't sign players like Evan Bouchard if you want to actually win. Staples comes riding to Boo boo's rescue saying how there are many, many NHL observers think that Bouchard is one of the best d-men in hockey.

I assume by 'NHL Observers' that Staples means Oilers fans. What a moron.

Lauren really had to "dig in" there to salvage the trip. She knows how to "dig in" that why they are married.

They should have brought the dog, they probably would have recognized him from the ceremony and seeing Pissy put a chain around a dogs neck in an NHL game.

Haha

Wisniewski said Bouchard was good on the power play. “But he’s not that good other than that. Sign a $5 million power play guy, and then you have $5.5 million for a shut-down guy. Now you got two ‘D’ for the price of one.” Wisniewski added, “I guarantee you right now, if you gave me two months of actually getting my fat ass in shape, I could run the #####ing power play… Literally you had to be #####ing Ray Charles in order not to run that #####ing power play in Edmonton.”

Boy, does this sound made up. Between that and the "many people think" Bouchard is good story, this sounds like Trump admin PR.

I love how Staples doesn't once address the defensive lapses that Bouchard is well known for. He excellently puts up points. He makes brutal mistakes in his own end that devastate his team. He does not deserve to be put in the same category as Makar and the others he is being compared to.

There is a broader item to all that just around what teams do when they have point producing dmen who are also flawed. Those guys get paid. But then you have a lot of cap tied into flawed players. Call it the "Adam Fox" problem.
But I see it being relevant for Bouchard, and eventually a guy like Lane Hutston

Can you win when guys like that are your #1 dman and paid as your #1 dman?

Depends on if he ends up being closer to Hughes/Makar (high bar) v. Bouchard/Fox.

I assumed this was just a joke setting up for the lines about McDavid being a master diver and unable to defend.
