Still think Scottie has a decent lead by the end of the round. We’ll see but he’s not finding any trouble at all.

Rory going cold and is probably just too far back. He needs to get to 8 under at least, if not lower.

I mean a 380 drive leading to an eagle is gonna help for Scottie. Even though I think this course is a touch too easy for a major, I still quite like the course.

That double ball stack that Rory had was something.

An almost perfect round to sum up Scottie: nearly flawless ballstriking, mostly boring, in complete control. I get the boring complaints, but we are really watching greatness right now.

He is so much better than everyone else. I don’t see any way he loses, he’s guaranteed to at least shoot one or two under even if he putts horribly.

I could see Rory going low tomorrow but he’s going to need a 62 to give Scottie a scare.

Yep, another boring sunday coming up. I was going to make a big thing of this tomorrow, but now ill probably just check the score around 9am and see if things have gotten excitng . My guess scheffler will just be rolling along well enough that no one can make a move on him.

Weather is irrelevant today so it will be a pretty lacklustre final day unfortunately.

That is of course unless Scheffler makes some bad bogeys. But I wouldn’t hold your breath.

The one thing that could make this more interesting is the crowd. If Rory can get off to a hot start I could envision the extremely pro-Rory crowd maybe trying to get after Scottie to try and rattle him. Still feels like it has to be at least 63 for Rory to have even a slight chance, but the course is continue to look very getable.

There have been some really nice scores out there today including guys like Bryson and Ricky Fowler. Doesn't look like Rory is going low though.

If Scottie has actually figured out how to be a good or even great putter then yeah I'll be putting some currency on a calendar slam next year.

This would be a great tournament if Scheffler wasn’t playing.

He's just such a boring person, which makes it even worse. And now you don't have Bryson, Rahm and others challenging tournament to tournament.

I mean we're not gonna act like Tiger wasn't the most boring athlete of all-time until we discovered his affinity for Perkins Restaurants, are we? The difference is in their games. Tiger would actually make mistakes, some tournaments lots of mistakes, but he would produce spectacular shots to often get out of trouble. Scottie is rarely ever in trouble so it's mostly just fairway off the tee, pin high approach, birdie/par, repeat.

For better or worse Tiger certainly had a superstar/celebirty aura to him. And yeah you're right that was fun about Tiger. It was the "holy **** he just screwed himself with that drive, he's behind trees and will have to lay up now" *tiger fades a 2 iron 40 yards to the left around some trees and goes 240 yards to the green and birdies

He had that aura because of how he played on the course, not cause he was some top tier personality. He was dreadfully dull, which is what advertisers loved about him, he was seemingly Mr. Perfect outside the course, until Elin got a hold that nine iron.

Ahh the old Jim Rome classic. But yeah Tiger might actually be more boring than Scottie off the course. Scottie's "I kind of hate golf" take the other day was one of the more introspective and thoughtful answers I've heard from an athlete. Better than almost anything Tiger would say.

Lots of iconic Tiger memories from the golf course. The big celebrations, the fist pumps and he was hitting shots no one else could. I agree personality wise he wasn't all that interesting but he also wasn't white which was (and still is) different and eye catching for golf. That helped create the entire marketing machine around him.

Tiger was breaking tournament records. Scottie is a relentless machine who doesn't present any vulnerability to opponents. So of course one is going to seem more interesting than the other.

In this kind of environment, benign conditions and slow greens, Scottie can't be beat right now. I also liked his interview the other day. He wasn't implying he hated golf, he was stating it doesn't provide a lot of deep meaning to him and the good feelings are very fleeting.
