And yet the story still came out. If he really was buddy-buddy with Trump he surely would have killed the story. But the Murdoch's aren't stupid, Trump is an insane, uncontrollable maniac who breads economic chaos. Vance, on the other hand, might be the 21st century's preeminent bitch boy, he has no spine, he will do what he's told, he will never buck.

Maybe if there is a "groundswell" against going to the US, but frankly I can't see it.

Exactly this. This organization held events in Russia and Qatar, and now Saudi Arabia is on the horizon. Nothing that's happened is making them second-guess the US.

The poor quality fields and weather are probably a bigger threat to it being moved out of the US. We know FIFA loves fascism and totalitarianism, it's in their DNA.

Nice try @AGPamBondi.
What about videos, photographs and other recordings?
What about FBI 302's (witness interviews)?
What about texts and emails?
That's where the evidence about Trump and others will be.
Grand jury testimony will only relate to Epstein and Maxwell.

It continues to be literally insanity that this is how communications at the highest level of government are done.
####ing insane.

If there's any organizations the world can trust to stand up to corruption, its surely FIFA and the IOC.

I was more thinking of individual athletes and the others needed to travel with the team perhaps re-evaluating the idea of stepping into a fascist country that likes to disappear people who's skin colour is an important part to determining criminality.

Nah. Football is awesome, WC2022 was a blast especially watching Canada's rise to, and participation in, that tourney. Most popular sport in the world by a large margin. Can't wait for the World Cup next year, despite the US as a host. More games in Canada would have been great though!

If Colbert wants to continue his thing unencumbered by censorship or corporate nonsense, he'll be a bigger force than he ever could be on network TV. I wouldn't blame him for taking a few years away from all this though.
His last few months have the potential to be very fun if he feels pretty unleashed.

I love Seth Meyer's and A Closer Look. I find him incredibly funny in that, especially since I keep expecting him to have a complete breakdown like the scene from Network.

It's barely a real sport. It's 2025 and they can't even keep real time to the minutes. Where the NBA, NHL and NFL go to the mili-seconds you have soccer where the ref just decides when to end the half or game depending on which team paid him more.
and the diving.... jesus. it's unwatchable.
of course it's the most popular game in the world. all you need is a $10 ball to play.

Lifetime In Suspension

What a fascinating stance.
Anyway the justice department has recommended that the officer convicted of violating Breonna Taylor's rights when he fired ten shots into her apartment be given a one day sentence and three whole years of supervised release. That's pretty cool and seems very reasonable as their argument is the bullets didn't hit anyone so what's the big deal?

Not bad, but I'll only seriously consider going if they change it to "Trump is a Pedo Blvd".

All those guys from the 90's who are still around care. And there's a lot of them.
Normally I would say there's just no chance anything ever comes from this, as it has been the most obvious high level coverup in the history of high level coverups for years now.
Then again, US politics has become a world of crazy so who knows. I would imagine the internet chaos machines from Russia, China, Iran etc. are all for adding even more chaos into the US political system, and they seem to have most of the real power in the US. Well, them and the oligarchs.

They're just going to keep ignoring it and not releasing anything until it goes away. And it will - no matter what it is, if he just waits long enough, it will go away. Unless there is a backlog of stories like the WSJ one, or someone leaks something.

Yeah. Which really just shows how generally stupid and incompetent these people are.
Trumps one skill is supposed to be controlling the media narrative and popular attention, but this once again shows that he's incapable of doing anything right on his own.
The Epstein files could be a fantastic tool in smart (and malicious) hands. A couple of big (but not too big) names could be tarred and feathered in public as a distraction for the masses, while serving as a warning for the potential opposition.
If you want to throw your political opponents in jail (and the Trumpists would love that), you start by putting away people who have actually done something. It's just part of the playbook for most autocrats. Typically it's corruption charges (which also helps you frame yourself as being "anti-corruption"), but this would work just as well.
Once again I guess we should be somewhat glad that these people don't know history or ever read anything.
