The more I look at the Ducks roster the more it makes sense that they should trade McTavish for an age appropriate D if they trade him. They can't afford to trade Zellweger.

To be fair, there are OOT hockey platforms echoing that potential trade and non-Flames fans weighing in saying that exchange makes sense.
Thats not being generated by CP homers
Maybe the perceived value of Ras on the outside is higher than we think.

Yeah, I wasn't there before but I was convinced otherwise - I had underestimated Carlsson's stats.

Its never a bad time to win a trade
Not sure how adding a PPG player and ZP doesn't improve the Flames...they had 96 points without those guys so that draft range is off IMO. Even the 3 on 3 points alone from those two guys would do it.

Dallas trades: Robertson $7.75M, Bourque $950k
Dallas receives: Andersson ($2.275)+Coleman ($1.225M)+Pospisil ($1.5)M+2026 VGK 1st
Dallas gives up a young player and a top line forward in the deal. They get Andersson 50% retained and get Coleman with double retention for 2 years which provides immense value for the team. Pospisil brings some of the agitation lost with Marchment out and he has shown some nice upside. They get a pick back in a draft where they do not have a 1st
Anaheim trades: McTavish, Zellweger (1 retention spot for Coleman)
Anaheim receives: Robertson, Bourque
Anaheim moves on from a RFA and brings in a new star player. Robertson would be the Ducks best forward and with Quenville the Ducks are looking to win sooner than later. Bourque is a center replacement
Calgary trades: Andersson, Coleman, Pospisil, VGK 1st (uses their 2 remaining retention slots)
Calgary receives: McTavish (signs for $9Mx8 years) Zellweger
Flames put a lot of chips in to grab the 2 pieces they need the most in a young center and left shot D. They are able to hold onto all their premium young assets but need to part with their 2nd 2026 1st. Pospisil is also a piece that has more upside. Flames would have a center, winger, Dman, and goalie all under 25 to build around. All of a sudden the retool is looking legit.
I had thought about taking Bourque and Pospisil out and adding Zary to the Ducks.

To each their own, but I just don't see what the point or enjoyment out of fanciful daydreaming out loud is.
This is neither a rumor or speculation. Why waste your time writing it up?

The Ducks are already overloaded on D such that last year they couldn't consistently get Mintyukov and Zellweger in the line-up. I don't think they are going to block them further by bringing in another D.

It's been one heck of a slammed day but I've now skimmed the thread and I see you people still haven't made any progress on how we get a #1C for Andersson and nor did one side swing the other side fully to team tank or team retool.
What have you all been doing all day?!

Gudas and Trouba are expiring and looks like they need another Dman with top pairing potential. I might just not know their D well enough though.

Yeah, in the proposal I responded to they were trying get Zellweger on the Flames. Sure doesn’t look like they can move him.

He's an LD. So are Mintyukov and Lacombe. Trouba and Gudas are RDs. They are 3 and 7 years older than Rasmus though. And Trouba is probably a 4D on a good day.
Rasmus could be a pretty good addition for them - and they can dump Trouba to a contender (retained or double retained) for assets at the TDL.

With Dallas you could throw in a really good prospect (which the Flames have) and try to take Robertson and Bourque.

I've been beating this drum for a while, and Vinny has also put somewhat of the same deal.
Flames: McTavish, Zelleweger
Dallas: Andersson, Pospisil, Coleman (50%), Helleson
Anaheim: Robertson, Bean, Lyubushkin
In 2026 Dallas gets Coleman at 2.45m for an additional year, RFA Pospisil, and potentially having enough cap to sign Andersson again with Lyubushkin gone.
Anaheim utilizes Bean as the 6th/7th man, Lyubushkin has been there before and can hold his own, and Robertson allows Gauthier to get more draws at C.
Calgary gets a much needed top 6 center and also a D man to round out their top 4. Roll with Zelleweger/Weegs and Bahl/Parekh together down the road.

I dont think Robertson would put up those kind of numbers in Calgary, and thats alot of money dedicated to LW. Plus it kind of half asses the rebuild/retool and closes the window a bit.

Well that is great! Getting Lindholm trade value for a 3/4 d guy on a contending team. Whoever signs him long term is going to have huge buyers remorse.
