He moved to Michigan when he was 10 and played junior in Canada. Being originally from California might not be much of a factor. His life decisions to this point seemed to be what was best for his hockey career.

The Montreal Kadri connection really has me thinking about how good of a fit it could be all around. The Habs have a team that is ready to take a step they have in prime talent in Suzuki Caufield and Dobson with young guys like Demidov, Slafkovsky, and Hutson adding a veteran piece like Kadri could launch them into immediate contention.
I don’t think Hage and the 26 1st would be on the table but getting one of them would be key. I could see Conroy liking Xhekaj on the back end and if Reinbacher makes the team he could be expendable? Lastly I see a piece like Newhook or Dach being someone the Flames would take on?

The options with Montreal warrant a conversation but Toronto just has nothing close.

That is an interesting view on cap structure. I think you can have more than one high paid winger, especially if they play on opposite sides. Having Robertson on the Flames would make less sense as it would be $20+M on the same side (LW).

And, as I said in my last post, if they lose Robertson, who picks up the slack on LW? From a top 6 perspective they are really shallow on the wings now.

The drop off from Robertson to ... other LWer is bigger than the drop off from Hintz and Johnston to Seguin.

The drop off from Johnston or Hintz to Seguin is significant.

I don’t know I wouldn’t be very happy if my GM sent a 70 point 22 yo center packing so I can upgrade my 2nd pairing with a 29 year old defender coming off his worst season.

And that is where the added Cap Flexibility comes in for Dallas. they can go sign a LW or two.

Agreed the Habs are into moving futures not pieces they have already drafted.

Dach/Newhook+Xhekaj+26 1st + 26 2nd (CLB)

 |
I believe it was Royle9 who shared that based on his sources, MacTavish has zero desire to leave ANA.

I'm not super thrilled with the idea of acquiring Robertson but the problem of where to slot him on this team is nonexistent. He goes on the top line because this team doesn't have any top line producers.

Cap-wise, they do.

A team that is contending or should be contending, not the flames.

Futures from Dallas would have very little shot becoming as good as Robertson is now at such a young age based on where they’ll be drafting.
I’m really shocked how many people dislike a 40g 100pt winger so much.
Yea he’s not the center we need but he’s instantly become our top forward regardless.
I also think he’d do very well with Kadri.

With that said I don’t think CGY gets him, but to say you’d rather have magic beans is strange.
