I like it. A lot of prospects waste an entire year of development with the extra year in the minors.

About time! I wonder if it could happen fast enough for Parekh to have the option this season. The wording of "sounds like it's happening in some form" makes it seem like maybe this is being pushed for the upcoming season? That would be wild. Makes sense from the CHL's point of view though. They had to do something to give themselves a fighting chance against the NCAA.

FWIW, I'm told MOU documents are coming out in next day or two.

Would it be a CBA issue? From what i understand this has always been an agreement between the NHL and CHL.

About time. No reason a 19 year old shouldn't get paid for paying what is essentially pro level hockey. Good for the game

I can see average salaries in the AHL going up because of this too, just to stay competitive.

Between this and the NCAA changes, I'm happy to see kids/young people getting what they're due after decades of pure exploitation.

As someone who has been exploited their while life, everything makes me sad.

Oh look, a bird!
That makes me sad.

A lot of players don't make it past juniors, or a year or two of AHL. When you take it that far, it shouldn't be a financial burden.

I would much rather have a prospect develop in the NCAA vs playing against men in the AHL. Shorter schedule, better facilities, way more support for the players.
This is a massive overreaction by the CHL. The USHL has been dealing with players leaving for years. They have succeeded despite those challenges.
