In political discourse, "extreme left" or "far-left" refers to political positions that are significantly more radical than mainstream left-wing ideologies. It encompasses a range of views, including socialism, anarchism, Marxism, and communism, often characterized by a strong rejection of capitalism and a desire for fundamental societal transformation. These positions may advocate for revolutionary change, often through means beyond democratic processes, and can be associated with various forms of extremism.
I don’t think there is any significant or organized “extreme left” movement in North America.

I mean they kind of did by taking things too far with wokeness which cultivated the whole MAGA movement. The biggest lesson to take from all this is for the left's to be more moderate when they regain power. It's not an excuse for what Trump and the Republicans are doing but it's the reason they got into power. This whole extreme left/right thing isn't working for the masses.
This is what right wing commentors have spent the last decade convincing you of, and it apparently worked. Flacid quislings like Bill Mahr, subtly deflecting blame from the reality of what occurred. And that is that the right got played by Russian influences to stir the pot. They stoked the flames of division, which made the "extreme left" stand up and defend the rights of those who were being attacked.
You now view this as just out of nowhere the left decided these things needed to be thrust in everyone's faces out off, I dunno, they just did it for reasons. But no, they were seeing where they were being attacked and said "this isn't right". Then the Bill Mahrs of the world, feckless simpletons were moved to flip the script and say that MAGA is just reacting against all this "woke". And what's woke? a struggle to prevent inequality, and you've been convinced that is somehow a bad thing.
Well now we see the true light, and it is that MAGA are in fact (shocking!) hateful racist ####s and are now doing exactly what the left was trying to stop, but people like you handed MAGA the assist, and here we are, watching a modern western democracy get destroyed by fascism and you STILL want to stand around blaming wokeness like some half shamed cheerleader with rape dripping down her legs waving the flag of the team that just abused her.
Wake up.

It really explains American culture perfectly: I want what's best for me and #### everyone else. Everything else is SOCIALISM!!

Can you get more specific here.
- Examples of where you think wokeness went too far
- Examples of what you call "extreme" left

Hahaha... and the hilarious thing is I bet 95% of regular Americans can't actually define what socialism is. But the GOP/MAGA said it's bad, and evil, and so their lemmings eat it up because they can't spend an iota of a second looking up its definition.
MAGA would have an aneurysm and a psychotic breakdown if they found out that some democratic socialist countries have some of the highest standards of living in the world and the highest rates of overall quality of life and happiness.
The same clowns crying about, “socialism” get very upset when their Medicare and Social Security is threatened. They have NO clue what socialism actually is. Meanwhile, big money corps are constantly suckling at the government’s teet with billions in handouts.

None of that is extreme. Wanting it for 'Free' is whats extreme.
If we all want that stuff then our taxes have to be commensurate to pay for it. Otherwise its unsustainable.

If major corporations and extreme high-net worth people were taxed properly, it could all be affordable without increased cost to anyone making under like $1M a year, probably more.
You're an accountant, you know how that system gets worked over by those entities.
Also the whole equivalence is just craziness to me. How can the wealth disparity and some peoples want to continue that increase until it inevitably results in mass unrest not be considered the most extreme issue we're dealing with? And people want to cry EXTREME that their coworker who used be called Megan now wants to be called Steve like it's any sort of infringement on them at all. Meanwhile, their kids school is about close.

We get triple taxed, because our taxes go up to make up for the lack of taxes being taken from the largest pots, then those pots use what tax dollars do get collected to subsidize their pots to get even bigger, and then they charge us more for their s****y stuff.

A great way to mobilize the extreme right is to pretend there is an extreme left.
Spoiler!

I hate this argument personally. I know it seems logical, but its overly simplistic and flawed.
High-Net Worth individuals and corporations are mobile in a Globalized economy as well as Tax Havens, etc.
So you can tax them and get a small amount of something or tax the hell out of them and get a giant slice of nothing.
Why did 2 major Tech giants move from California to Texas? Why is Apple's HQ in Ireland?
"But if we just taxed them appropriately tho!!"
Tax Policy is not that easy.

I don't disagree, but the solution is not to just shrug and let it go on, or to continue to exasperate it even more with bills that just make it worse.
Putting people in jail who commit large scale fraud would be a great start. Not passing bills again and again that just do this over and over would be nice as well.
I don't agree that it's over simplified. You've made it very clear and simple. These entities exist to maximize profit above anything else. The greed has to be legislated against. They won't police their own environmental regulations or safety standards, they won't "trickle down" their profits to their workers, they won't drop prices even if the market says it should be so, they won't lower rents to try and get more people in their empty rental properties, they just won't. We know this. It's never happened. It has to be legislated. Yup, they'll run to other places, part of this would have to be some type of UN trade agreement on corporate tax policies etc... which would never happen. Because of all of the above. So let's just watch it all burn down I guess. Hope everyone (above 100k per year) enjoys their cool extra few hundred bucks!

Getting people to pay their share of taxes would be great, but I would be happier if they started paying employees better, especially those that rely on social programs to make up the slack. Employees making more money will pay more (or start to pay) taxes and can afford to spend more on goods and services. Sounds like a positive cycle that makes everyone's life better, but greed is so out of control that I don't see how we can make this happen.
We can vote with our wallets but there are entire industries that rely on cheap labour to make their billions that doesn't trickle down like promised.
