Here's what I know Buffalo has kept an eye on from Calgary.

Rasmus - Obviously, but he's already said he wont extend there.
Pospisil - They really love his size and snarl and the fact he can play up and down the lineup.
Zary - Lots of teams are curious what Calgary is doing with Zary/Frost
Mews - Buffalo apparently had him quite high on their draft list, could see him used as a D for D swap + a roster player

The more I think about it the more I don’t think anything happens. Buffalo is being Buffalo… he’s looking for a massive overpay on Byram. It’s all the usual BS they pull. I think he gets off on all the attention he’s getting and likes playing games lol. I’ll be shocked if the Flames actually do this trade.

Calgary has set a price they're willing to pay and wont go above that, the fact nobody else has signed him yet leaves me to believe there's still the groundwork in place.
Much like the Rasmus situation in CGY, Byram wants out and its only a matter of time as he's not going to extend there.

There may be some contingency with Calgary and the Rasmus situation before Buffalo gets done, but that's just more speculative than actual rumour.

From what I've gathered on this L.A deal and it "blowing the socks off" as it was just picks, I guess you'd be looking at a 1st, 2nd and more. I don't personally see it as "sock blowing" but hey...
