I wonder what trade chips they use to acquire a new goalie, and whom it may be.
I really don't care if McDavid re-signs or not. I think the 'height' of their chances is now behind them with salaries jumping up, and they have nobody coming through the pipe and no cap space to really make moves (even with shedding some contracts).
If McDavid does decide to move on, and the team trades him, I am ok with that as well as this is one if not THE - worst drafting and development teams around.
I am curious in which way this organization manages to fail.

Cap wages if you add AM has the Oilers under a million bucks left if Savoie Tomasek and some other disposable yeoman are bought up the roster to round them to 12 forwards. Or about 3 million I think if they want to free agent sign three depth forwards.
That also leaves them with 8 blue liners.
This is an old team, Savoie has to be their savior, and they don't have money to imporve, and they really don't have tradable assets. They also have to freak out about McDavid signing.
Looking at the lineup on the previous page, even with Mags added on, its not a great forward group and Draisaitl and McDavid will have to drag that offense. That blueline looks awful and badly over paid.
I would say that if they don't make changes, this is the team in the pacific that I think will have the biggest fall.

They deserve each other. Funny they all think Hart will be their saviour. His numbers aren't that much better than Skinner's and that was on a much better defensive team than the Oilers.
He'll #### the bed and we can laugh about that too.
This guy is not going to walk into the Oilers and suddenly become Hasek. His numbers are the same as Skinner's on arguably a better defensive team when he was there. He'll get caved in and it will be glorious.

…and won’t have played in almost 18 months by then. Can’t imagine his speed will be even close to par.
So at what point does the panic set in for Oilers fans if McDavid does not sign? Draisaitl signed near the end of August last year I think. Taking that long could really make them sweat. I really have no read on if he will sign any kind of extension. This offseason so far should not fill him with confidence.
With what money? Is he going to sign for league minimum?
well not sure he's going to come in holding too many bargaining chips. it looks like they have about 1 million in cap, but can get more by firing one of the other 2 goalies out the door /bury in minors and could run with 12 Fs if necessary
