I can't speak to the accuracy of this calculator, but it aligns with your point.

Well no states have a 16% tax rate, although Cali is close.
Athletes will still need to pay state tax based on where they play so it’s not zero e en in Nevada.
Presumably more and more players will elect to defer some of their comp to avoid higher state income taxes if they want to live somewhere else after playing.
It’s not as clear cut as you make it seem but there is definitely an economic advantage.

It's not an actual advantage until John Tavares loses his case with the CRA.
As of right now, all a player has to do is list their primary residence as a no-state tax state and then negotiate for a signing bonus heavy pay out. The only teams this is a disadvantage for are the poor or cheap teams.

I thought it was reported that the new CBA is getting rid of deferred salary.

Tavares already had a big victory when CRA didn't provide documents to support their case. CRA hasn't said yet whether they will appeal, but if they don't, then Tavares wins.

I feel like this means Vegas can't possibly sign Razzy now, which should force him to open up his list of teams he'd sign with.

Is it taboo to wish injuries on a team?
With all these splashy high price players they are top heavy. Wouldn't it be something if a few of their high end players got bit by the injury bug (Stone, Marner, Eichel, Pierrangelo). Have a horrible year and then the Flames profit with the unprotected first rounder. Dare to dream.

He was walking in 9 hours. They got a rock solid 3rd liner back. I don't see the issue.

He got more than most teams get for pending UFAs right before they walk. Credit is due.

Roy was I believe 2.8m in cap, a fully retained Razz fits right in there, snug as a bug.

This will put Vegas $6,813,571 over the cap. I know it was strongly speculated, but I think this all but guarantess Pieterangelo and his $8.8MM will be on LTIR to start the season. It's the only player other than Eichel or Stone which can put them under and I don't think they have the depth to trade 2 roster players for picks to keep them compliant.

You would think but you can never count out Vegas acquiring more players.

They could still try and unload one depth piece to make room for Rasmus this year.
