Craig’s job now is to maximize value and move him around his 6 team no trade list. Craig has a lot of respect for Andersson, so I’m guessing he’s keeping him informed as I do believe an extension might be part of the deal as well (to maximize value)

The one thing I keep coming back to is a package with Andersson and someone else to make a bigger deal… it just feels like a very real possibility.

Maybe one of our unsigned RFA’s or a Pospisil etc.

Going to be a very busy week!
Coming back to this one. If we’ve been talking to Buffalo about Peterka but Andersson isn’t going to waive for Buffalo, what about Jason Robertson? His name is out there. We can take back some bad money in the deal and add Popisil.

Something like this.

To Calgary
Jason Robertson (7.75)
Matt Dumba (3.75)

To Dallas
Rasmus Andersson (4.55)
Popisil (1.00)

That saves Dallas 5.95m which they can use to sign Granlund/Benn/etc. and they get their rhd and a winger who’s built for playoffs.

So we get a 109 point 25 year old player for a year of Andersson and Pospisil? Start the car.

LOL Yzerman continuing to try to get people to take Berggren.

Perhaps.

But I think when you have a bunch of GMs and scouts together for a few days and socializing in groups, you probably hear a lot more chatter and engage in informal conversations that could lay the groundwork for draft day deals. In general, I think less siloing leads to more action. That's why you see more trade rumours come out right after in person GM meetings as well.

Does a package built around Andersson and Zary get us close to McTavish?

Andersson's value is completely contingent on the acquiring teams desire to sign him to an 8 year extension. And Andersson's willingness to sign there.

So, maybe.

No, but there were rumours that the Ducks were saying he was available last year, so they could potentially increase interest and find a taker for Zegras. They must have some used car salesmen in the front office.

I feel like the ducks would be smart to see how the younger guys like zegras and mctavish do under Quinneville before they deduce to move on

Friedman on the 32 thoughts podcast:

doesn't know what the numbers were, but Flames and Andersson were very far apart
when Calgary saw Andersson's number they were like this is more than a contract and its time [to move him]
no hard feelings
Andersson has nothing bad to say about Calgary, Calgary has nothing bad to say about Andersson

if you are the Flames you hope Ekblad signs because you can really do well with Ekblad off the board

in theory Flames could keep him until trade deadline, but Friedman has heard people are serious [about acquiring Andersson now]
this is the best chance to make the team better, don't want to be one of the teams that thinks Andersson makes them better but loses him because they were fooling around

Friedman heard there is legit interest,

Waddell looking for top 4 rh shot d and has 14, 20 and sillinger available. Ras listed as a target.

6. Cole Sillinger, C: This one would sting. Sillinger is an important part of the Blue Jackets at a very young age, and there’s certainly no desire to trade him. But if the Blue Jackets are in the market for big moves involving significant pieces, they’d have to include impact players, too. Sillinger, who plays behind Adam Fantilli and Sean Monahan, would move the needle for a lot of clubs.

2. Rasmus Andersson, D, Calgary: The Blue Jackets need a top-four defenseman who can play on the right side. They (desperately) need some grit and nastiness in their top four. Andersson checks both of those boxes. If Dante Fabbro doesn’t re-sign with Columbus, Andersson could potentially get a look on the top pair with Zach Werenski. Andersson has one year remaining at $4.55 million and has a six-team no-trade list, according to PuckPedia.
